No, the M40x uses a proprietary 2.5mm jack and not a standard 3.5mm so it will not be compatible despite the detachable cable.

Will this mic work with sennheiser hd 598sr?

No it won't because the HD 598SR requires a proprietary cable. The BoomPro only fits into a 3.5 mm jack. I have a BoomPro as well as V-Moda Crossfade M100 and Sennheiser HD 579 and the BoomPro can't be inserted into the HD 579 (uses same cable as HD 579SR).
