is the cork sleeve removable for washing purposes?

Yes it is made of 2 separate parts held together by the leather sting (that simple hooks around twice). Hope it helps. You need to remove/undo them every time for washing/drying. I like more than just rinsing after every use and coffee stains come out easily from cork when cleaned regularly.
