Nearly worthless for foreign travelers going to the UK
I purchased the card because it was one of the only options I could find that would ship to the U.S. Unfortunately, after I did more research, I learned that the value of the O2 charges in the UK was extremely poor. It cost 15 pounds to get a 100MB data plan.Fortunately, when we arrived in Edinburgh, I purchased an EE (Orange) SIM for my wife with a 10 pound charge and got 1GB of data and 400 texts. To make matters worse, even though I had access to our son's UK credit card, I was unable to add money to my SIM plan, so I'm left with a completely useless card. So I still have to hunt down a new SIM card for my phone.Between high costs and unavailability to use the card, I must advise others to stay away from this product. Instead, stop by the tourist information center at the airport and purchase the appropriate card from them along with a top-up.

Works well, but making calls in the U.S. can be expensive.
I bought this SIM card from Gosimcard through Amazon for an unlocked Motorola Krzr GSM phone I had lying around before a planned trip to the UK and France.I actually activated it in the U.S. before I left, but the card comes without any call time pre-loaded on it. I was able to test it anyway by sending a text to it, as receiving text messages is free on European SIM cards by regulation.Even so, I still wanted to test the calling before I left to make sure the number worked. Unfortunately, you can't use a U.S. credit card to add money to this card on the O2 website. I decided to go ahead and purchase £10 top-up voucher through a 3rd party seller (phonepal.co.uk) for £12.49. A pretty sizable mark-up, but it was the only way to get money onto the card before I left that I could find.Everything went smoothly with the voucher and I had £10 worth of calling on the card before I left. I made a test call with it while still in the U.S. and it cost £1.50/minute! The good news is that the calling rates while in the U.K. (and the rest of Europe) are much more reasonable. Once I got to the U.K., the phone worked great and had very good coverage and reception.I was able to talk to my parents back in the U.S. very inexpensively because they have their home phone through the Obi100/Google Voice combo, also bought on Amazon.com, so they could call my cell in the U.K. for only $0.10/minute and it only costs £0.04/minute to receive calls. Whenever I wanted to talk to them, I would call their phone and let it ring 3 times then hang up. If nobody picks up (including voicemail/answering machine) you don't get charged anything. Then, they would call me right back. This system worked really well.

I bought three of these for the company I work ...
I bought three of these for the company I work for to test out the easiest way to pay for international phone bills when we send employees abroad. Unfortunately this SIM card didn't fit in 3 out of 3 different phones. I also had employees try out buying pay-as-you-go phones when they got there. Even if these SIM cards had fit in the phones, the purchase plans were much more expensive than the pay-as-you-go phones our employees found there (Orange). Further, you need a CC with a UK billing address to activate these SIM cards. This product is pointless for US travelers in my opinion

The best prepaid SIM card for the U.K.
I previously purchased Orange, Lebara and 02 SIM cards. While in London, I used each card. Without question, 02 has the best service of the three cell phone carriers. The 02 Internet was super fast while the other (Orange and Lebara) often would not connect to the Internet at all. While using the SIM to make telephone calls, Orange had the highest per minute rate, Lebara charged a 60p connection charge plus a higher rate per minute (5p). 02 did not charge a connection fee and cost only 2p per minute to call the U.S. from the U.K.Experience is the best teacher. I highly recommend the 02 SIM for those planning to visit the U.K.As an added benefit to the 02 SIM, I was able to use it in France and pay only 1 pound, 99 pence per day for roaming. This allowed me access to the Internet and my e-mail from France.

Trying to use this card in the UK without buying minutes before you leave
The SIM card works great but if you don't order it with minutes ready to go you will have problems.when you arrive in the uk they give you a free number to ;top up; ie buy a minimum value. Of £10 which lasts a long time ,problem is your credit card has to be tied to a UK address ,when they get to the question what is your post code in the UK ? I could not find a workaround even on line has the same question. So the only work around is find someone with a British credit card give them £10 and use their credit card. The much easier way is just wait till you get to Heathrow you can buy sims from a real person and pay with a US credit card for about the same as this costs plus MUCH less stress. Graham ketteridge
