How could I live without it?
When I decided to buy it it was like "ok, one more gadget that I'll use for a couple of days and then donate to the thrift store."Nope!THe Disposal genie surprised me under all aspects. It's exactly as described, but the product sturdiness and quality are way better than I was expecting. It's inexpensive and BRILLIANT!It fits perfectly (and even with some pressure to keep it correctly in place) in my In-Sink-Erator disposer. Water flows actually faster, because the disposal genie keeps the disposer's rubber splash guard more open, allowing water to flow faster. When you want to close the drain, just twist (first uses it's very hard, but it softens in little time and gets the ideal pressure). I tested it keeping my sink full OVERNIGHT and it didn't drain (this is better than the stainless steel stopper that came with the disposer). When you want to drain, just twist the top and "adiós" water. One additional feature that the manufacturer doesn't mention but I discovered it quickly is the visible colored parts when the disposal genie is placed in the drain (the curved fins and the center "button") actually help creating a flat surface that is a continuation of the sink bottom, so now I no longer have that annoying situation with glasses "falling" in the drain, tilting and breaking.I'm entirely in love with this product.Oh, and the spatula on the bottom is smooth as a squeegee, not too flexible but not too hard... just perfectly ballanced. It's great to "wipe" food leftovers from plates and it also hels drying the sink borders, as it acts exactly like a tiny squeegee that fits in small gaps.it also helps muffling the disposer noise. It may look silly, but it's a very clever invention that REALLY helps a lot.

Keeps water in and with a twist lets it out.
Was unable to find a disposal plug the right size so decided to try this. Works great and no need to pull plug out. Just a twist to drain. Red seemed different in my white sink, but I’m embracing it. Love red, so why not. Now I wish they would make red for my other sink.

Good product, a little room for improvement.
First, I must say, that I have used a somewhat similar product for years, called “Mr. Scrappy”, that was very functional, but a little cheaper made (and in appearance).I have only used the Disposal Genie for a couple weeks now, but wanted to compare the products a bit.First, the Mr. Scrappy disposal tool has an X or cross shaped pusher, that is better at pushing stuff down the drain. Also, the Mr. Scrappy sticks up a bit higher with a little nub or handle and is easier to pull out of the disposal opening when it is in place. When the sink has food or water in it, the Mr. Scrappy tool seems easier to use.The straight portion used to push things down the drain may be better at brushing food off plates, but I have an OXO dish brush that performs this function.Other Pros of the Genie:I like the studier design, and color choices and it seems to be built more solid.I like the turn to open or close the drain openings. This is MUCH better than the Mr. Scrappy, which always seemed to block the drain or get sucked into the closed position when I left it in the disposal opening (much better function on the Genie). Conclusion: Overall, I think it is a better product for similar uses when compared to the Mr. Scrappy product.Improvements (IMHO):1) Make nub or “handle” stick up a bit further or perhaps have two positions, down, like it is, or pulled up a couple inches, so it sticks up as a handle and can be grabbed a little easier and taken out of the disposal opening when you have to push food scraps down.2) I like the X or Cross shaped pushing tool, a bit more functional at pushing food scraps down drain.I do recommend this product (at least so far).Addendum: After a little more use, I do think the flat plunger portion works almost as well as the cross shaped of Mr. Scrappy, so I no longer consider this a con. Still think the part you grap to pull it out of the drain could be a little higher up, to make it easier to grab. Perhaps two positions, down, like it is, and pulled up..to give you a little more to grab.Still think, so far, a quality product.

This is a great tool for combined drain and garbage disposal
It prevents any silverware from accidentally going down the drain but you can get the small pieces of food down there. You can use the bottom to scrape dishes and this version twists to close so you can fill the sink. I already had one so I purchased one for my daughter when she moved into her new home. She loves it as she was worried about silverware. No worries now. It was a little tough to turn the first few times but I got it after a few turns.

I think I’m going to love this!
I just got it and haven’t used it, but I have a feeling it’s going to be perfect. I had another one for about a year and I like it, but this one fits in so much better, it allows a lot of stuff to just go through without getting stuck on top, and you can turn it, clockwise, and it also becomes a water stopper!
