Everlasting Ideas for Tactful Self-Promotion
“Power Your Career” is power packed with practical and doable tips for tactful self-promotion. I had seen one review that thought this was dated. I respectfully disagree. Although there might be a few references that are less relevant now, over 95% is right on the money and worth reading, implementing and benefiting from the many clear and well-defined examples provided. Just the chapter on LinkedIn alone can boost anyone’s chances for success. The many other chapters about self-positioning, cultivating strategic relationships and increasing visibility are timeless. Burke and Dodson show the reader how to do this, step by step. This book will certainly power anyone’s career. Read it and succeed.

I hate the idea of self-promotion - but I love this book!
Self-promotion is something I struggle with - I don't even like the idea of it. But I've watched a lot of people get the resources and tools they need, and the promotions and raises the want, because they promoted themselves and were noticed. So I do know how important it is. Because of the title I was hopeful that this book would offer some strategies that I could actually use without feeling sick. And I wasn't disappointed! If you hate the idea of promoting yourself, but you know you have to do it, then you need this book. The authors provide a lot of examples, and it's fun to read. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to, and learned a lot that I can apply immediately. I've already order a couple of copies to give to friends of mine who also hate self-promotion. It's a very good, and useful, book. Thanks!

Outdated
This book is extremely outdated. For example, women over 55 don’t look good with long gray hair was one of the tips for looking professional.

A real guidebook, one you must keep on your shelf!
These authors have really hit a home run here! Not only does this book give a guide to authentic self promotion, but it is a wonderful guide for every part of one's life.....progressing in a job, searching for a new role, meeting new people, recovering after a bump in the road, determining the next chapter! It is filled with pragmatic suggestions of how to move forward to whatever the next chapter might be! It is an easy read, but more important, it is very useful and helpful!. Well done!

Awesome Book!!!
This book is awesome - my career coach recommended I read it, and I'm glad I did. It gave some fantastic examples of how to think about self-promotion differently, many of which I related to. Highly recommend, great read.
