Daewoo RFS-26DTJE French Door Refrigerator, Stainless Steel

I'm a big fan of this appliance. We have an LG that has manifested the dreaded compressor issue. Given that it's nearly impossible to find someone to work on those, and the local company we'd bought it from was one of the places who quit working on them, we had to call in someone from outside of our area to replace the compressor.Enter this refrigerator. We were looking for something to use during the few weeks we would be without a refrigerator, while being more than temporary in case our primary refrigerator was unable to be fixed, or broke again as apparently happens.Delivery was a breeze. We got confirmation ahead of time and they were exactly on time. They hauled away an old refrigerator we had in the garage and put this one in very quickly. They wore masks, gloves, face shields and were very careful with how and where they touched the refrigerator.Once we got it up and running....well, let's just say my wife likes it more than the one we paid about twice the price for. It has lots of space, uses it well, the drawers and such are solid and the lighting is definitely superior. I put temperature probes in the refrigerator and freezer portions and it got down to temperature quickly and has held it reliably. It's seems to run a bit below the set temperature in the freezer, but that's not a problem.I have nothing bad to say about this refrigerator, and frankly, I wish I'd have bought it before my much more expensive one at this point.

This item was delivered and installed on January 11th. When I went into my basement the next day I noticed water dripping and it had pooled in my light fixture and even the bulb itself! I went upstairs to see where the water was coming from and found that the nut on the water line leading to the ice maker was cracked and water was leaking behind the refrigerator onto the floor. I quickly turned the water off and returned to the basement. I turned the power off and carefully removed the light fixture and bulb which were both loaded with water, surprised I did not have a fire. I couldn't leave the power off long as it was on the same breaker as my sump pump so I have just been letting it air dry for the past week before putting a bulb in it. I replaced the nut on the water line myself.I then noticed that the lower top freezer drawer was sticking and everything in the freezer had a coat of ice crystals on it. I also felt like the items in the refrigerated portion were not cold enough. The outside digital temperatures both read fine. I put a separate thermometer in the refrigerator and it was reading 50 degrees compared to the 37 that the digital was telling me. I waited a couple days and there was not change so I contacted Amazon via chat.After 3 days and being transferred to 12 different people on the chat it was determined that I needed to contact Daweoo myself. I explained that the refrigerator has obviously not worked correctly since it was installed and I had to throw away food items that had spoiled due to the low temperature. I like the style and size of the refrigerator and was not trying to return it I just wanted a replacement or even a Service Technician to come out and look at it for me. Amazon informed me that the unit could not be replaced and to contact Daweoo.It has now been 24 hour since I called Daweoo and have still not heard back from them regarding a service call. My freezer is still creating ice crystals and my refrigerator is 50 degrees.... I am disappointed with the Customer Service that I have received regarding this issue. It has not worked correctly since day one and the water leak, loss of food and lack of support with this issue has been very stressful.They finally determined that it was a faulty fan which they replaced.....Ok, one year later (January 20th, 2021) and the same issue has occurred, Bottom freezer is working but frosting up and the refrigerator is 55 degrees.... Once again I have had to throw food away, which was never compensated for the first time this happened. I called them January 20th and they said someone would get back to me by Friday the 22nd to see if it was still under warranty.......really! It is now Monday January 25th and I did not hear from them so I called them back, now they say I should hear something in the next couple days, it usually takes about 5-7 days. This is the worst Customer Service I have ever experienced! I will never again purchase a Daewoo or refer anyone else to do so either. The price was good but customer satisfaction is not a priority with them. I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of food and have weeks of being inconvenienced by not having a working refrigerator.

The only complaint is that the ice dispenser likes to dispense one or two cubes after you remove your glass. Each time I use it I have to pick up ice off the floor.

After reading some reviews I was a bit apprehensive, but this fridge has been outstanding.I've seen some negative comments about the ice maker. Be sure to turn off ice making for the first 12 hours for the internals to come to temperature and you shouldn't have any problems. Also, most fridge ice-makers and water dispensers function at an optimal water pressure (too high and you'll likely run in to leaking in the ice maker/too low and the dispenser and ice maker may not function at all). If you're replacing a fridge that already has a ice maker or water dispenser then you shouldn't encounter any problems. A 5' hose was included with the fridge.If your ice isn't dispensing through the door dispenser check inside the chute of the dispenser for a plastic seal. If you have the hands to reach you can pull it out, or carefully cut an X into it from the inside being careful not to cut the rubber flap. Having someone repeatedly press the ice dispenser button from the outside will move the rubber flap for easier access to the plastic seal.Overall this is a great fridge for the price. Very comparable to similarly sized fridges at big box stores and at a better value. Delivery and install was painless (in my area the same contractor that delivers Costco appliances delivers for amazon). Be sure to know which door they are entering through based on the entry opening size.
