.com This album is curiously packaged: the Latin title Credo on a recording of Russian liturgical music, sold not with religious symbolism but with a close-up of the heavy-lidded, dark eyes of Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Fortunately, the contents are eminently worthwhile. Hvorostovsky is, deservedly, one of the rising stars of our time, with a rich, chocolaty baritone consistently wielded with intelligence. The St. Petersburg Chamber Choir deserves to be better known; although they're frequently singing backup here, this is a beautifully disciplined, well-tuned ensemble, singing with meaning and with resonant voices. --Sarah Bryan Miller

Shear Beauty
Dmitri, the choir, the orchestra create an album of magnificent music of the Russian church. Hvorostovsky sings here with great feeling and depth. His voice is warm and seasoned. All the skills of a great singer are evident in this recording. It is a balm for the soul, even if you do not understand the words.

This choir is among the very best!

I love this CD. His voice is so rich. This one was was good value for money.

inspiring and powerful
This CD sounds at times as if one is hearing angels sing ! Very moving, this is sacred music at its best, with the phenomenal Hvorostovsky singing with tenderness and passion. To quote what he wrote on the liner notes: "I believe...in the power of the Russian sacred music to transport the spirit, to open our eyes to the mysteries of faith and to teach us, as Dostoevsky believed, that 'beauty will save the world'". And there is so much beauty in this recording ! This is more than music, it's an experience.

Service and response.
I am very disappointed with is "Credo" cd I received because it was defective and Amazon refuses to correct the problem. A third part of the song was interrupted one-third way with no sound and the cd stopped playing. I had to resume playing from part four song and it continued the rest of the songs without a problem. Obviously there is a glitch on the third song and its' defective, not my player, for it repeated the same way with this cd only. Thanks for your service and no response.Sincerely, Victor B.Olshansky

He is great baritone voice, he sings great Russian music, and this recording is great! It is Russian Orthodox music. I love it!

So happy to have found these
I bought this cd when it came out for friends as well as for myself. My copy was lost and as the cd seemed to have been discontinued (why?) I was left without until I found 2 second hand ones. I'm extremely happy & can highly recommend this cd by Hvorostovsky for times of quiet and reflection
