40% of discs are shown as "invalid"
When loading the 400 discs into this changer, 40% are shown as invalid. When I put the same discs in another exactly the same unit, they are all read. I have tried to get help with this issue. The seller says it is past return date. Amazon says it is not past a 6 month window so I should discuss it with the seller. Amazon I could return it but will not likely get a full refund. On top of all of this, I did purchase an Asurion protection plan from Amazon and they tell me to talk to Sony. Lot of pointing fingers and all I want is some support to fix the issue.

THIS IS A 5 STAR PLAYER (PLEASE READ)
The SONY BDP-CX960 IS A LEGENDARY 5 STAR PLAYER. My company has renewed 100-150 of these players, so we know what we are talking about.#1- The reason for the bad reviews is the fact that about twenty percent of these players left the factory with a defective laser that typically would manifest in not playing blue ray discs (some or all). On these defective players, a Laser replacement solves problem. Now the positive features of this player. The most amazing part is the Gracenotes Database which provides album artwork, genre and other important information that allows You to sort, organize and choose what you would like to watch. This database does not work with CDs, but it does work with DVDs and Blu Ray Discs. Face it, All great music and movies are in the past, CDs and DVDs are making a great comeback, Because of their manifestly superior reproduction in both audio and video compared to streaming. When you buy your player, make sure. Also, it has new belts installed because these were manufactured between 2009-2011. And be sure that they warranty the player.

A Discontinued Product
The media could not be loaded. Error code "E 8002" typically indicates a problem related to an internal mechanical error within a device, most commonly seen on Sony Blu-ray players where it signifies a potential issue with the disc tray mechanism or sensor, often caused by a faulty component or a problem reading the disc properly.I have this Sony unit Mega Changer. I purchased it in 2010 and it was slow, especially when loading DVD;s, and Blu-ray took forever. This unit had a lot of potential. However, Sony skimped on the features. For example, having the capability of attaching a keyboard for text entry. You have to use the remote. The ability of adding your own clip art to your movies., and you had to plug in a USB drive for extra memory.Another disappointment was not being able to create a play list for video. The is feature is only available on Music CD's.Grace Notes: It is my understanding that if you load a disc prior to 2017, the clip art, and movie information should load and display. For a unit within this price range, should have all those features, plus. This unit hasn't been supported since two thousand seventeen. I suggest you perform a lot of research before spending this much money a a discontinued product.Sony has always been slightly behind the times with their electronics. Would you believe that in 2025 Sony continues not to incorporate an digital tuner in their A/V receivers? A digital tuner captures the digital signal generated by AM/ FM radio stations for free. Similar to that of a digital tuner ATSC 1.0 in your TV where you have your main network, followed by sub stations. A radio with a digital tuner is no different.I still have this unit. and it works great. This unit was never over a thousand dollars when new.

Sony technical support is helpful
Sony tech support was pleasant and tried to help. We tried troubleshooting the problem for over an hour. I want to know what the error code E 8002 means.
