Sunpentown UF-311W Energy Star 2.8 Cubic-Foot Upright Freezer, White

After reading all the reviews, decided to take a change on this little freezer. Just needed something to supplement my home freezer. And the more packed a freezer is, the more efficiently it runs. So didn't want anything too big. At this point, I am pleased with the freezer. I read several reviews where the freezer arrived damaged. Amazon is now packing the freezer in its box into another box with corner guards. Very well protected. Also, once you get the inner box that holds the freezer out , it is slit all the way around near the bottom to simply lift the box off. I felt Amazon was taking pains for the item to arrive unblemished, and then to make it easy on the consumer. I am keeping the freezer in my utility room which is not heated or cooled but is part of the house right off the kitchen. It is quite cool out there right now, and I have the freezer on the coldest setting to keep everything frozen. I am wondering if it will make a difference once the utility is much hotter in the summer. The 4 stars is for that reason; I am having to use the coldest setting to keep everything frozen.

This freezer works fine for a short period of time but was really high maintenance (bad seal so required CONSTANT defrosting) . And then it completely crapped out after a little over 3 years of use. It appears to be un-fixable and for the price, I certainly would have expected a much better quality unit and longer life span. Pretty disappointed, and regretting not getting the cheaper option which probably would have performed the same way.

I bought this 2.5 years ago. So far it has been excellant and trouble free. I offer one suggestion. The installation must allow for air circulation in the back at the bottom. I noticed the second day that the cooling unit gets very hot. This is normal, but the unit has no cooling fan and relies on circulation. Continued hot operation will shorten the life of electronics. I bought a 4" electronic equipment cooling fan, available on Amazon and at large electronic stores, for about $5 and placed it on the floor aimed at the freezer "motor". The fan runs 24/7 and maintains the freezer working parts at a much cooler temp.I purchased the freezer for use in my motor home. I fill with organic frozen products, because I spend a lot of time in areas of the country where people think 'organic" is a foreign word.This freezer was an excellent purchase. If you have an RV with a small built in frig/freezer, or a small apartment, and like to keep frozen foods, this unit is for you.It is also light enough, about 75 pounds, that you can easily move it.Again, add some means for additional cooling of the "motor". The little 4" 12 volt fan has been running quietly 27/7 for 2.5 years. It makes a huge difference in the temperature of the freezer working parts, making for a more efficient operation and very likely extending the freezer's life.

After unpacking and cleaning, I plugged it in and filled it by transferring frozen food from my refrigerator/freezer. The temperature control was set to 4. After about 2 months, upon inspecting the frozen veggies, I found that they were not frozen anymore but had a feel of about room temperature. I went back to the instructions that came with the freezer, took everything out of the freezer, turned it off for about 12 hours, and then restarted it with a setting of 6 (coldest). The next day I put some frozen veggies in but, instead of keeping them in the frozen state the malfunctioning freezer had defrosted the veggies over night.I would not recommend to anyone to buy this freezer.

I got this to put in our mechanical room in the basement and have been really happy. It uses so little electricity and gives the extra freezer space I needed. The finish is nice, so it could be left in an area that is visible.

I had to get a replacement for my first one because the Fed Ex delivery person brought the first one upside down and caused an issue that the compressor wasn't working properly. The second one came upright correctly and after a week is working well!!

So I purchased this freezer in May and by June the lock wasnt working. It also started to make excess ice atthe top and the door wouldnt close. It hasnt kept anything frozen and so now I have a mini fridge instead of a freezer! I tried to get it returned but now the return date is expired and I can't get any recompense for a product I cannot use. Don't waste your moneyor time!

I have only had the unit for a few weeks, so cannot speak to longevity. I will say that it arrived missing a leg, which I suspect was an issue with the seller and not the manufacturer. Instead of return the freezer, I emailed supentown directly and they replied right away and sent me the part for free even though I offered to pay for it. I thought it was worth mentioning. The freezer is a great addition to our pantry: we wanted shelves to store extra frozen berries, vegees, and meals for our toddlers. It fits the bill.
