Is this the 1998 version or the 2011 version?

When I received my item after purchase, it was the 2011 Master Grade kit based on the Hajime Katoki design from Gundam Wing: ndless Waltz: Glory of the Losers, as advertised.

Is this a good kit for a beginner?

It is, everything goes together easily. Though the instructions are in Japanese you can fallow the pictures and the examples in the instructions. The 1/100 models are easier then the 1/144 because of the size . some parts for the smaller models are really small. So this scale makes it easy to get accustom to before you work on smaller scale models .

How do I get replacement parts?

If you meant that you broke a piece, then there isn't really a way to get just one piece replaced.
