RDS MFG INC71083 Rectangular Auxiliary/Transfer Fuel Tank - 45 Gallon Capacity

This was very easy to install and works great as both an auxiliary tank and transfer tank for my truck.

Seemed like it took forever to finally arrive. But, on arrival I found it to be well made, and shipped with no damage. I installed it on my 2016 RAM 2500 short bed using the supplied hardware and install kit ordered separately. Install took a couple of hours, the worst part was cutting the metal fill neck of the truck. Once installed, and no leaks were found, fuel was added and an RV camping trip provided a test run. The tank preformed exactly as designed. On reaching half a tank on my truck, I stopped and flipped open the valve to the RDS tank. On getting back on the road I saw that the fuel gauge seemed to start climbing, but very slowly. My fuel gauge remained on or slightly above a half tank for the rest of the two hours we drove to our destination. This is money well spent, as I feel I can probably fill both the tanks and pull for around 12 hours without having to worry about finding a gas station I can pull my 40' RV into and out of.

Nice tank! However, I bought mine from Northern tool which did NOT include any mounting hardware which I assumed would be included. It drop shipped from RDS on a skid. I was suprized as most reviews talked about nice packaging and installation hardware. So, I called RDS and they said install kit was $15. They suggested I go to hardware store and save myself some money. Don't think I saved any money lol. However, was able to scrap up the parts. Kinda like buying a car and they say "Oh you wanted the transmission with that" it will be extra.

Got the tank and it is just what I wanted for 5th wheel towing out west. Fits in my long bed Dodge fine, I had trouble getting a screw into the passenger side tab because of the tight fit, but it is plenty secure with a chest tool box anchored just behind it. I am on my first fill up and it took about 40 gallons, within 2 inches of the top. No instructions, but good help on the phone. Used the RDS diesel install kit to hook up to the truck. This was not to hard to do, cutting the fill tube took a stout knife, but the rest was pretty easy. Very happy with the tank. It peaks above the rails of the pu (2009 2500) a couple of inches which is ok but I can easily see over it to hitch up the trailer.

Perfect for my 2016 Ram 3500, went with the 45 gallon plus install kit and in total it was under two hours to complete it. Wish I had gone with the 60 gallon though because I'm 40 miles shy of complete round trip to the dunes and back with no stops.Quality is top notch and the billet fuel cap is great! It does sit just just above my bed rails but not a big deal for me.

Item showed up fast without any issues. Installation was straight forward. I used the Southern Truck 11029 2" Diesel Auxiliary Install Kit, I got here on Amazon.Was pleasantly surprised the tank arrived with the upgraded locking cap.Also included was dense foam padding and all nuts and bolts springs and instructions.I'm always nervous dealing with freight shipping, but had no issues this time.

Arrived on time and in good shape with no damage to any parts. Installed with RDS install kit in my extended cab GMC 2500HD without anyone else assisting and also installed a filter before it drains into the filler neck which may slow the flow a bit but don't want to deal with any debris in the main tank. The diesel flowed and filled the tank from 1/2 tank to full within about 20 minutes sitting and not running. Would highly recommend.

On one side it cracked and bends. I can’t put the nuts on cause it will break if I do.
