You print your design with sublimation ink and transfer onto sublimation coated item/polyester fabric via heat

Can an image be hand drawn with sublimation markers and then used with a heatpress

Yes absolutely can. Even on ordinary paper you can use the sublimation pen but it will be different crispyness of the colour.

Can you use any printer? Or does it have to be a special one?

You will need to have a printer with sublimation ink i have epson 2720 which has been modified for sublimation ink
