I am not sure, but what we use it for, is to take off the point on our show goats horns.

Sorry Travis! I only use on my horse. But the design of the rasp works well and because of the size, it is easy to use for wick fixes. I have a heavy duty one, but this is well made.

Would this work on a goat whose hooves have never been trimmed?

No I don’t think it would. The sides of the hoof would have to be trimmed down first. I like using the rasp to help level out the softer part of the hoof.
