High Quality and Inexpensive
I purchased this Case Logic case for a Western Digital USB 3.0 external drive, and the case has worked out brilliantly. The case is a semi-hardshell design, meaning that, although not made of inflexible plastic, the external cloth is supported by a semi-rigid insert. There is plenty of room inside for the drive and its short USB 3.0 cable, with a little room to spare for perhaps a larger cable, or maybe a few flash cards. The inside of the case has a stretchy built-in band on one side that holds the drive securely in place during storage and when you are opening and closing the case. The zipper works very well, with no snags, and feels pretty rugged, meaning that it does not feel like it will break or pull apart with normal usage. The size is really perfect for the external USB portable drives, big enough to use with comfort, but not too large to defeat the original purpose of buying one of the portable USB format drives. The case is also pretty lightweight, and surprisingly, even though you might think that the neoprene-style cases would be lighter, are actually not the different in weight (neoprene is actually not as light as it might at first seem). An easy five star recommendation for design, functionality, and price! The drive I'm using with this case:Western Digital My Passport 1 TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - WDBBEP0010BRD-NESN (Red)

Great, Quality case, but shorter than others.
It's a great case. Its Quality shows. I like the red one so I can find it easier. It's a bit smaller than the Drive Logic ones I also by, but it does fit my WD Passports without a problem. I like the fact it's a HARD case too, for protection.WORD OF CAUTION!!Too many times I see people not really understanding their EXTERNAL DRIVES. The External drives still spin up and down like an internal drive. These cases might protect the drives from drops, but there's still things you NEED to do to ensure your drive, and your data, remain safe.1. BE SURE that your drive is in a secure position BEFORE you plug it in. Don't be moving it around while it's plugged in. It's SPINNING, and you are just increasing the chances of bumping it into a head crash.2. AFTER you unplug it. LET IT SIT 30 SECONDS. Those disks are STILL SPINNING even after you unplug it. Some slow and stop faster than others, but wait long enough to be on the safe side. If you move it or, gawd forbid, you drop it while the platters are still spinning, you dramatically increase the chances of your heads crashing into those platters and losing all your data. You can search the web for "head crash image" to see what happens if you aren't careful. It's not pretty. This case and those cautions should keep your data safe a very long time....

Good, protective case & keeps dust out
I bought this to use with a WD My Passport Ultra 2TB Portable External Hard Drive. The external hard drive fits perfectly, snug, with little room for sliding even if, in time, the elastic loosens. The mesh pocket holds cables firmly and neither cables nor the drive move around which limits the risk of rubbing or scratches. The case is firm but not totally rigid so there is still some risk of squashing cables down onto the drive if you drop it into the bottom of a bag and have a heavy laptop on top of the top of the case. It seems to offer good protection though and corners are solid. I haven't tried dropping it to test it out but it certainly looks like it would protect from accidental knocks and from corner damage.I recently left the hard drive in its case in a very dusty environment. The case (and everything surrounding it) was covered in very fine, white dust. There wasn't a speck of dust inside the case and the hard drive wasn't even slightly dirty. The case isn't advertised as being able to keep dust out so this was a very welcome discovery.I've had a number of cases over the years and this is the best of the bunch. I've just ordered another external hard drive and another of these cases, in red this time, to protect it. This does everything I need in a case at a very affordable price.

Good Case...There's always room for improvement
The good: Solid construction, what looks to be strong stitching, perfect size for small portable drive, the case is even less obtrusive than the small form factor portable hard drive and cord (USB,Firewire, eSATA, etc.). The band holds the drive reasonably secure and the netted pocket is perfect for holding the cable the drive uses. It could hold more than one cable and a thumb drive provided the cable(s) in question is/are not extremely long and/or overly thick. What could be better: A padded Velcro strap holding the drive in place might be a better solution than a stretch band. There is no padding between the netted pocket that stores the cable and the drive. Other than the interior boundary size, there is nothing to stop the drive from sliding up and down inside the case, but it can't slide out of the band holding it in place. To go any further would be creating a higher end product at a different price point. Conclusion: The "What could be better" aside, it is a good product at a good price point and I recommend it for shoppers looking for this type of item.
