very good synthetic reed
I am getting back into playing my alto sax, and have tried various synthetic reeds plus one cane reed. I bought the Legere Signature based on reviews, but also because Legere have a table that shows some of the common reeds and and how their strengths correspond. This table indicated I should use a Legere Signature reed strength of 2.25. I am pleased with the response and how my reed plays. I still play my other reeds but the Legere Signature has become the one I use most frequently. At almost £29 it is not cheap, but hopefully it will last. Like other quality reeds it has the manufacturer, reed model and sax type (alto) and reed strength printed on. It also comes in a very good case to protect it in transit.

Very consistent, not as robust as expected
After sticking to cane for many years I finally decided to give synthetic reeds a chance after I damaged two of my good cane reeds on a single day. Getting tired of going through the process of selecting the good reeds in a box, carefully playing them in. Even doing that the lifetime of a good reed is limited. So moving the synthetic reeds, it takes some effort to find the right hardness of the reed (Legere reeds tend to play harder than comparable cane reeds). But once you find the right one the consistency is such a relief. For now the signature reeds are my favoutites. I find them sounding great and are comfortable to play. The only drawback so far is that the reeds are not as robust as they seem. I cracked one right in the middle of the body by just adjusting the mouthpiece on the sax. So better to have a spare on at hand...I

Really impressed
I normally use a Java 3 (Green Box) and I was really impressed with this.I tried the 2.5 first and it was too weak, blowing through it. This is great and it's so nice to have something consistent every time. I do find myself overblowing on it still occasionally so I may try the 3 but on the whole I was mighty impressed.Especially good in hot climates as my reeds with warping lots in humidity etc.

Love this product!
Not cheap to buy for sure, but will certainly outlast the average cane reed. No need to pre soak, not so prone to mould, consistent, play straight out of the box, complete with storage box - love it!

Perfect intonation every time
Having recently ‘broken’ my previously purchased Legere Signature reed I decided to try traditional reeds again. I very quickly remembered why I changed to the Legere reed in the first place. No having to go through umpteen reeds to find a ‘good’ one, no more having to moisten the reed before use, no more having a reed that is too soft after playing for a couple of hours and no more reeds that split just as you are getting use to them. Just put the Legere reed onto the mouthpiece and you are ready to play. Perfect intonation every time. Brilliant.

A gamble
Never having played a saxophone before I didn't really understand the effort needed to bed in a wood Reed but read the reviews on these although there a little harder to play took a gamble and so glad I did. Its a lot easier to use can be left set up after cleaning and gives a what I would class as a really nice warm sound. This makes it easier for beginners to learn the sax and concentrate on getting the right ambrouch without having to keep the Reed damp. Would definitely recommend you trying
