Will a galaxy Tab A fit

I use mine with a Galaxy Tab A7 it works well.

What's the maximum width in mm this can take?

I'm holding a kaoss pad 3 in mine and it could still take something wider. And I'm only using long grips on one side. Research how wide a kaoss pad 3 is and you can probably fit something 2 - 3 centimeters wider no probs. Sorry cant give direct measurements butility research this stand better and all dimensions are specified

Can this be used upside down, in other words with the four hole mount screwed to the underside of a solid yacht Bimini?

I can see no reason why this would not worl for you The only limitation would possibly be the lenghth of the arm depending on how near the edge the base could ve mounted George
