Excellent if and when you can get it up and running with the awful instructions
We have an 8 year old daughter. She wants to be a spy when she grows up. It would be pretty cool to have a spy for a daughter so I'm up for that. We like a bit of camping and she likes to go running around with her new random friends. What I was looking for was a way of tracking her location so we always know where she is when we want to, a bit like the iPhone find friends feature. I didn't want her having a phone because she would leave it everywhere, random people could phone her and people might nick it.So after reading dodgy reviews for tracking devices I stumbled across this. Tracks her location, can text her, only set numbers can call her and most importantly it's pretty much straight out of James Bond. Plus it was only £25 when I bought it - not too much to lose if it was dodgy; which I half expected having read the reviews. After having used it for a few holidays I can confirm it's really good and works fine - but limited. We told her it was a fitbit and counts her steps (which it does) but it pretty much counts every heartbeat. The steps aren't remotely accurate as she noticed when she took it off charge in the morning and it already showed 79 steps. She loves the fact she's always done more steps than her parents. She can call me, her Mum and her sister because I've programmed in those numbers. She "pranks" us and we call her back so it doesn't cost every time she rings. Boy does she ring us: "Dad, I'm just standing over in the corner..bye"..."Dad, I'm going over to the other corner...bye"...etcThe location tracking I found to be quite accurate. Other people reported 3 mile inaccuracies but mine was good. Sometimes slow to update the location but a bit of patience seems to work out.Texting her is only achievable through the "app" and is pretty unreliable for me. Only works 1 in 10 times. So I gave up with that. She can't text back from the watch anyway so it's a bit one sided: "come home now!!"The difficulty with the watch is the setup. I bought a GiffGaff SIM which seems to have unlimited credit validity and a free £5 when you top up £10. Cost 6p, delivered. I could have got it for 1p delivered but opted to splash the cash. I put it into an old phone and set it up as if it were my standard SIM. Texts work, data works. Then slipped it into the watch, which wasn't a very good fit; kind of laid there wile I closed the SIM-latch over the top. Works though, so must have been OK. Registered on the app and paired the watch. All reasonably trouble-free. The app even allows you to photograph the barcode on the back of the watch to enter the watch-ID.Within the app you can add numbers that the watch can call. Add numbers that can call the watch. The app and the instructions are awful. The worst Chinglish I've come across. Luckily I'm a programmer and have a pretty good grasp of technology so was able to navigate my own way through the dense thicket of random "English". The best programer advice I can give is to just press things until it does what you want. For example, to answer a call you press the SOS button. Doesn't really make sense, but my daughter doesn't care. The only feature, after using it for a while, we find to be really useful is the calling. She basically has a watch that we can call. A phone on her wrist that she doesn't lose. More importantly, a watch that she has to talk into, which has impressed every other 8-year-old she's come across.Recommended but prepare yourself for a bit of head scratching when trying to get it set up. Also don't forget the price. Don't expect an Apple Watch, but for £25-ish it's a bargain.P.S. My daughter saw me writing this and said "why did you give it 4 stars, I would have given it 5" to which I replied, "you didn't have to set it up.."

Make sure that both the watch and the mbl phone with the app both have a good signal for set up
I was slightly wary of getting this synced into a mobile network but actually that was a doddle. Make sure that both the watch and the mbl phone with the app both have a good signal for set up. In use it provides surprisingly good comms. Battery life could be longer. Be aware the shape of the bracelet will only fit small children because of the curvature of the plastic case. It would be more useful if you could text directly to it from a smart phones standard texting function instead of having to use the proprietary app. Similarly voicemail alert/access needs to be simpler. But for a low cost dabble in this technology I am happy with the purchase. Great way of heading off children from having their own smartphone too young !

Worth every penny and more, would recommend
I got this for my nephew birthday, I must say this is worth every penny and more, I got a gifgaf 2g SIM off Amazon, registered it downloaded the app, stored the numbers (store up to 10 numbers) and it works really well, tracker was one door number out but that's ok, easy to make call and receive, I am really pleased and so is my nephew he is the only kid on the street with it so everyone thinks he is well cool,

Great value, tricky for some to set up
My 7yr old is thrilled with this watch. Had some trouble setting up in Ireland as the best value SIM package was not immediately recognised by the watch. By doing the set up using a different SIM and under the instruction of the seller I was then able to put the original SIM back in the watch and it worked. I found the customer service excellent. Even though the email were coming from China they were very quick and willing to help. Would highly recommend for this price.

Perfect utility for children not bigger than 7-8 years.
It is a nice watch but just for a wrist not bigger than 13 cm/ 5 inches. My daughter has used one of this some years ago and we were very happy. Now we need to look after another model as her wrist is bigger now 15cm/ 6 inches.

Good value for what it is.
Read some of the reviews and was a little apprehensive about getting one, arrived quickly, instructions not to hard to follow only just started using it so don’t have a good understanding of how it works properly, though it all seems okay and the app for the phone is easy to use.
