So disappointed!!
I bought 2 of these in addition to the Long Range Wireless Hygrometer and Thermometers - Long Range Wireless Hygrometer and Thermometer - These would be awesome if they would work the distance stated in the description. I set the alarms to alert me when the chicken coop and the well house temperature got down to 40 degrees and I bought these extra transmitters to use when I get baby chicks next month to be alerted if their garage area temperature gets too cold or too hot for them. Great concept!! However, when I took the transmitters to the coop and the well house, I couldn't get the temperatures to transmit. The well house is about 30 feet, and the chicken coop is about 50 feet away from the receiver location inside the house. I called the company and they told me the transmitters don't work as well when the temperature is cold. I told them that is why I bought these - I need to know if the heaters quit working inside the buildings so my eggs don't freeze and more importantly, the water well equipment and water pipes don't freeze. The customer support rep told me I needed lithium batteries because there is water in alkaline batteries that freeze and keeps them from working as well as when it's warmer outside (keep in mind right now it's a steady 40 - 50 degrees in both buildings). I told her right now I have 2 AcuRite 00754 Wireless Thermometers in both the buildings running on alkaline batteries and they both work great. I went ahead and bought a package of expensive lithium batteries and reset receivers and transmitters (I lost all my alarm settings upon changing the batteries). Worked great in the house, but once we moved the transmitters to the buildings we lost signal again. We tried taking the receivers out to the buildings and resetting them there and quickly moved the receivers back inside the house once set, but neither of them could find the signal once back inside the house. I ended up returning both the units after getting my hopes up I had finally found exactly what I was looking for. I've seen a couple of personal weather stations that have the capability of sending low/hi temperature alerts to an android phone so I think that's the route I'll try next.
