Item Package Quantity:1 | Size:5 Gallons Denatured alcohol has a variety of common uses As a fuel for marine and ultra-light camping (backpacking) stoves. It is inexpensive, may be extinguished with water, and can be transported without special containers. However, safety concerns do arise from the near-colourless flame with which alcohol burns. A jellied and dyed form is used in the Sterno brand fuel "Canned Heat", and is meant to be ignited and used in the container. As a sanding aid, as the alcohol helps to more easily remove excess dust because it does not open the wood grain the way that water does. As a mealybug exterminator. As a cleaning aid in removing ink stains from upholstery or clothes. As a cleaner in daily housekeeping As a solvent in shellac and shellac-based products. As a less expensive alternative to pure ethanol in preserving biological specimens. As a less toxic alternative to methanol in the production of biodiesel fuel. Biodiesel produced using ethanol is properly called fatty acid ethyl ester, whereas biodiesel from methanol is properly referred to as fatty acid methyl ester. For maintenance of wicks in kerosene heaters and lamps to remove water contaminants and restore the capillary action of the wick. As a wick cleaner and a kerosene additive, adding approx. 1 teaspoon denatured alcohol per gallon of kerosene.

Smells bad - not 200proof Ethanol ...
This is not 200 proof Ethanol (ethyl alcohol). This is really 90% Ethanol, 4.5% isopropyl alcohol and 0.5% NPA. The additives make this smell really bad. If you want to use this for essential oil extraction or perfumes or pretty much for anything other than fuel - this is _not_ what what you want.I just wish they would not label it as 200 proof <anything> - since it is very misleading ans is really 200-proof _nothing_.Tl;dr - misleading label _ product title. Will not buy.

It Smells Like Nail Polish Remover
I thought I was buying lab grade ethanol, but what it really is, is alcohol that STINKS and is adulterated with acetone (aka. nail polish remover). My intended use for pure ethanol was as a disinfectant that didn't ruin colors and fabrics like a bleach (10% solution). I wanted something that didn't stain my stuff like Lysol or bleach, but what I got was nasty, unhealthy acetone crap. Do not buy this. I should have gone to the liquor store and purchased a bottle of grain alcohol. That would have been pure, would not stink and cost a fraction of the price.

not for hand sanitizer!
I thought this was the 100% ethyl alcohol needed to make hand sanitizer. It's not. When you mix it with aloe vera it creates a white floc that precipitates out and I have no clue what the chemical reaction was that caused that. Therefore I can't be sure that the ethyl alcohol and propyl acetate haven't been converted to ethyl acetate or acetic acid, propyl ester, etc. Also, this n-propyl acetate does NOT have a fruity pear smell. It smells toxic but is actually much less toxic than methyl alcohol, which can also be used as a denaturing agent. It's worth mentioning that Duda Energy advises not use this for hand sanitizer.Instead, 100% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) is just as effective as a disinfectant for covid19 as pure ethyl alcohol and doesn't penetrate the skin as much, so I'm using it with the aloe vera instead (1 part aloe vera to 3 parts isopropyl alcohol).Ps: To be fair, this product was sold before the covid19 panic, so I kind of feel sorry for Duda Energy. There must be a lot of angry, disappointed shoppers looking for anything that says 200-proof ethyl alcohol, that bought this without reading closely - like I did.

Don’t use as stove fuel
I bought this thinking I could use it as a high end stove fuel. Burns yellow and with lots of soot.

Inexpensive flux remover
It has very a similar blend as a well known flux remover which is ethanol, IPA & some form of acetate. The difference is that this has 90% ethanol while the other has 95%, this has 6% n-proply acetate while the other has 1% ethyl acetate. I wasn't sure if it would work as well as a flux remover but it was cheaper so I thought, why the heck not try it. I am not disappointed. It works just as well (granted that you follow proper flux removing procedures). Will buy this again once I deplete my supply.I think it's worth mentioning the way that the item was packaged for shipping. First the bottle cap was taped over to prevent it from being unintentionally unscrewed. Then the bottle was wrapped in thick absorbent padding before finally placing it inside a plastic bag. I'm impressed with this level of precautionary measures.

Stinks
This product came up in a search for purfume grade alcohol... It stinks and could never be used for purfume

Delicious!
Just kidding, don't drink this - unless you want your stomach pumped in an emergency room. Not much to say about it. It is what it is and that's all it needs to be.

3-D modeling no good for this
Defiantly not as strong as ethyl acetate. I needed it for smoothing out my 3D models and it didn’t do a thing. May be a good product for other uses but not for me.
