Yamaha ATS-1070 35in 2.1 Channel Soundbar with Dual Built-in Subwoofers (Renewed)

I used them to enhance the sound of both a 65" flat screen Samsung TV and a 43" flat screen Samsung TV.The only weak points are the instructions which are minimal and contradictory on how to connect to a TV with HDMI-ARC (Audio Return Channel) sound. Once I got it connected via ARC, the results are fabulous and everything works. By the way, Samsung's instructions are even worse.However, I first tried connecting via optical cable (with adapters) but the optical outputs from the Samsung TVs do not work with the volume control or the mute function and they fail totally with local TV channels with only noise produced.To get ARC to work, plug a good HDMI cable into the second HDMI connector (the one labeled HDMI2-ARC). The other end goes to the sound-bar Output HDMI connector (Yes Output---not Input. I know that is irrational, but necessary). Ignore the instructions to set the sound bar to pass-thru mode (that just messes things up).Now just plug in the AC power and enjoy brilliant sound. ARC allows the volume control, the mute function and the local stations to work fine using the TV remote control.

There are a few things I really like about this sound bar. First is the price. I got it refurbished for $99. It looks brand new when I got it. Installation was super easy with ARC.I like that I can control the volume with my tv remote. Downloading the app helps tweak the sound such as the bass and treble.I did run into a slight problem last week where I was watching a show and the sound cut out. I thought it was my tv so I unplugged it from my tv but the sound worked on the tv speakers so it was definitely the sound bar.I unplugged the sound bar from the wall outlet and plugged it back in and reconnected the hdmi cable. Everything seems to be working correctly after that. Must have been a glitch.Overall, I like it and would recommend it. I’ll probably get another sound bar for another tv later.UPDATE: My sound bar quit working properly today (2/27/2020). No sound is coming out. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting suggestions but still nothing. Seems to be a common problem with these renewed sound bars.Thank goodness for amazons 90 warranty. I’m returning for a full refund.

Pro: sound quality so much better than tv speakers and sits perfect in front of tv. The app and remote work perfect.Con: I've got the tv plugged in with optical audio and media player hdmi. Media player was off, watching ball game and every 10 minutes or so audio switches from tv to hdmi on it's own. Additionally, the manual included was for the wrong sound bar. Seller sent me pdf.I'm going to get an hdmi switch and try that, otherwise have to return.Wife thought it was loud noises while she was in kitchen. Made me laugh her trying to make noise to get it to change lol********Update****** Turns out I didn't have it connected correctly because of big LED TV assumptions. Anyway, it sounds great, doesn't switch on me anymore. Having to use RCA cables and have to buy splitter so I can use headset when needed. I do wish it were one of the newer ones that have wifi and alexa etc.

We are so happy we purchased this Yamaha ATS-1070 soundbar. We recently received a new 50" 4K smart tv that is ultra-thin. The sound was pretty awful. Very tinny and weak sounding. After some research (I had never purchased a soundbar), I found this Yamaha in the warehouse section. After reading reviews, I decided to give it a try. I am not an audio- or videophile but I can distinguish between crappy sound and sound that pleases my ears. Adding this soundbar was a 100% improvement over what we had. It was easy to install and use.

Arrived in a timely manner. Product is as described. Packaged with all required audio cable options. Instructional DVD and quick install guide. All right on track. Set up was easy. There are optional ways to set up. All work. No different than brand new. Sound adequate for my needs. Meets all expectations. At this price, better than any other competitor.

Sound is exactly what we were hoping it would be and is a great value for the price in my opinion. We bought one to use one as a sound bar, were impressed, and then bought a second one, which we put above the cabinets in our kitchen and use to play music with Alexa via bluetooth.

Remote does not work.

You can't get a better deal on a sound bar for the money. I've bought two for bedrooms and they do the job. They dramatically improve the sound quality and you can hook them up to an inexpensive subwoofer and they sound even better. A lot of fun for only $99.
