Does the large pocket have any zip or other fastening to keep it shut, or can stuff just fall out?

It is closed by a magnet and works very well. Your Surface Pro 7 will not fall out. It has a very snug fit in to the case designed for this device. I am not sure what your expression 'stuff' relates to. Th is case is designed to carry the Surface Pro 7 and nothing else. If you are looking for a general 'bag', this is not for you.

Will this stand up if the Surface itself has a broken stand? Mine is missing

It should do but probably won't be as sturdy as the surface stand reenforces it.

I have a Surface Laptop Go 12.4 ", will fit well?

The surface GO device is NOT listed as being applicable for this case, so would suggest you do not buy this. Your device is slightly bigger that the Surface PRO 7+. It is a very exact fit for this device, so too small for your GO.
