Was glad this worked!
Got this for my mom who moved to an assisted living that only provided satellite TV. She has low vision so had to find a simple remote for her to use, and not have to flip through nearly 400 channels. Took a little while to set up, but worked great. You do have to keep trying the codes for the TV and satellite box but eventually one will work. She has a Sceptre brand HDTV and Directv satellite. Was pleasantly surprised--usually stuff doesn't work as advertised, but this remote did.

Doesn’t work, manual is no help, support is no help
Bought this for my mother, who has dementia. Could not make it work with her TV or with her cable box. None of the codes worked, nor did “code search.” As the reviews show, this remote works for fewer than nine out of ten buyers. Their code library simply isn’t comprehensive enough. The manual is confusing and poorly written—they even spell their own website wrong. For “code search,” users are advised to press a button “continuously.” What does that mean? To hold the button down, or to press it over and over again? So I had to try it both ways. While the manual cautions that it can take a few hundred tries to find the right code, any way I did it, the programming light went off after 50 or so tries, and I was forced to start again.Under the circumstances, it’s hard not to figure that the same inattention to detail that went into the manual also went into the design and manufacture of the product. Email support is responsive, but their responses are not very helpful. For example, when I alerted support to the ambiguity of the code search instructions, they replied that the manual is being rewritten—and didn’t bother to tell me whether to hold or repeatedly press the button. It’s a shame, because the concept of this product is exactly what I need, and no one else makes a remote like it. Here’s hoping a better company comes along with a similar concept and superior execution.

Didn't really work with Comcast/Xfinity
The fact that my mother's Comcast/Xfinity service requires her to hit the 'enter' button on the original remote precludes the use of this remote. When I programmed the buttons, the channel numbers would come up on the screen, then just sit there waiting for the 'enter' to be pressed. Nice unit, easy to program, but ultimately not useful for us.

Hard to program. Easy to use.
The media could not be loaded. Could not find the codes for my dad’s TV or cable box. The tv is old. The cable box is relatively new. The codes online were the same as printed in the manual. I had to manually program both the TV and cable box. Took about 90 minutes total. Would not recommend for a non-technical person for programming. The power and mute buttons don’t always work when pressed, which confuses my elderly father. I have to sometimes press the power and mute buttons 2x myself to get an activated response. All in all, though, the best elderly remote I could find.

Worth the effort
Have a family member with some vison and cognitive issues... So I had to simplify the remote. After finding the right code(s) it works awesome. They can switch between the 5 channels they usually watch and control the TV as needed (volume, mute, power).I had to program this twice because cable box was replaced. It can be frustrating but ended up well worth the effort.Normal remotes from cable companies have way too many buttons and are almost impossible to read .This remote allows for frustration free TV access to people that might otherwise be overwhelmed by standard remotes.

Couldn't get it to work. Returned.
Bought this for my 88 year old mother who struggles with her Comcast remote. The printed instructions leave out a step in programming channels.Programmed to control TV fine. Couldn't get remote to control Cable box. Contacted customer service, their response was basically "Call your cable company."After a couple hours spent with Google, I found out how to make it work with the cable box. sort of... The remote would send the channel number to the cable box, 718 for example, but the cable box just sat there waiting for an "Enter" to be sent.So I contacted customer service. Again. They sent me detailed instructions on how to program an "Enter". Great! Except it didn't work. I re-did it a dozen times, because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me doing it wrong. Nope. The detailed instructions were worthless. The remote has been returned to Amazon and I ordered a different brand. They get one star only because I can't give them zero.

Great concept but won't change channels on TCL 43S434
My mother-in-law with dementia needs a very simple TV remote. The TCL 43S434 TV we recently bought for her is being used in over-the-air antenna mode. The SMART TV button functions are, in this case, a detriment since she presses them and then can't locate the channels she wants. The concept of the SIMPL remote would be excellent for her needs if it worked.... TCL code 397 was successful in allowing me to turn the tv on and control the volume using the SIMPL but would not change the channels (up/down buttons and favorite channel programming don't work). .After leaving voicemail and email messages for customer support, they called back and pointed me to an on-line user guide containing an "Advanced Setup" section where the original TV remote could supposedly "teach" the SIMPL remote which channels were desired. I followed these instructions exactly and this did not work either.I found the SIMPL web site difficult, as there are 2 different user guides for this device on different links, both of which contain typos (for example, entering channel code example for 10/20/30 etc says to press the 100 button multiple times, should be the 10 button). The bottom line is that after multiple hours of futzing with this device, trying multiple different options, I couldn't get it working with the TV and will be returning it. Not so SIMPL after all!
