You'll need a valve, tubing for gas, fittings to connect tubing to valve and burner, plus a breather if using propane. Get correct size fittings. Breather can thread into burner.

Actual hole size required for 36” square insert ?

pan is a true 36"x36" so hole needs to be slightly larger to drop in

Can not get the flame above a small candle size. it’s hooked up to a full 20lb propane tank. the valve is open all the way. what am i doing wrong??

do you have a snifter on it? Is it vented? If not, that's your problem.
