Can you connect the hose to the tank while it is under / hidden by the table? Do you have to remove the table to use the tank?

Hi，It have to connect the hose to the tank before covering the table. When you use the tank you have to remove the table first and then cover it back.

How does the tank connect to the table to light fire with gas if not in a close distance? Does the cord show?

Yes the cord shows. Have mine looped under my patio couch and out the side to the propane cover/side table.
