Pleasantly Surprised!
I wasn't sure if this would work that well but after reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a try. I am EXTREMELY impressed. I've tried other products that help somewhat but don't totally stop all of our 6 cats. Some cats just have a way of figuring how to leave a urine spot. This product's effectiveness seems to be the shock effect of an instant 'spray mist' and sound (of the spray) that evokes the cat's primal fight or flight mode and in this case it is ALWAYS the flight mode in our house.OBSERVATIONS:1. I have set off the spray myself 9 out of 10 times - not the cats! The bottle has a wide view for motion detection so I had to turn the bottle to face directly into the area to avoid.2. Once the contents of the bottle is exhausted, it will still put out a softer spray sound and small 'puff' of air that seems to have the same effect on all of our cats.3. It is a little tough putting the 'topper' (sprayer) on the top of the bottle. Someone with arthritis may need a little help. I'm still on my first bottle so maybe it will become easier over time.

Definitely works.
It definitely keeps our cats off the counter. Scares us every now and then too. We've gone through 10 cans. It's never not worked for us. Our particular cats don't like them at all. We do run through the cans kind of quickly. I wish the bursts were smaller. Really, I wish the solution did not require the cans but just emitted a loud sound, so we didn't have to buy these. But, that's what it's about for the seller.

bad motion sensor
It was difficult to get the canisters to snap on at first. The motion sensor did not pick up motion every time, so the cat was still able to get into the room. After about a week the sensor stopped working completely. We changed the batteries, but it still wouldn't work, so we threw it away.

Didn't work on my kittens - would need a lot of them
Having a couple of new kittens in the house, I thought that there must be some sort of kitty deterrent that was easier than keeping spray bottles or water pistols constantly in hand (which would only work when I'm home and in the same room). So I thought that there must be some automated device to do this, and thus I searched the net and found this.I had high hopes, and indeed, the first one or two times each of the kittens got "blasted", they scampered right off the counter and I had a great laugh (one point for the owner!!).However, it wasn't very long at all before they simply got accustomed to the hiss and realized it wasn't harmful, and now it has no effect. The kittens (4-5 months old) now freely climb on the counter where the ssscat is and in fact sniff around it, almost as if they enjoy getting it to hiss (they've learned to get out of the line of fire). I wonder if part of the problem is that the pressure from the blast does not travel very far. Unless I am doing something wrong, it can't be felt from more than about two feet away.Even if it did in fact work, it would only cover one portion of a counter, or one top of a dresser, etc, so to protect my whole townhouse with these would require something like 5 to 10 of these detectors, if the range of each of them is only a foot or so. And the place would look pretty strange with these canisters all over the place, and the humans would end up getting blasted as much as the cats. This is again very disappointing because I thought with today's technology there would be a better answer - perhaps something that emits a high-pitched shriek, or controls something a little more powerful than a tiny little inert gas canister. Perhaps in a year or two this company or some another one will invest in some more engineering and come up with a better product. It certainly seems like a fascinating application of engineering technology.

The product is ok
The product would be better if it has a sound alarm instead of just the deterrent spray. My cat realize after awhile that he can just soldier through the air spray. So, it lost its purpose after a week. Plus, the refills go out so quickly. It seems the spray cans barely last more than two days with a persistent cat. Considering how much the refills cost you would think they will last a little bit longer.

Want respect from your cat? Get Ssscat!
I used to spray my cats with a water bottle, through down a can full of pennies, anything that anyone has ever recommended. They either just sniffed disdainfully or outright laughed at me. I got Ssscat, and I got respect. I haven't seen them near my stereo (I was getting really sick of cat hair filling the vents) or table tops in a full month! I bought the six-can refill, but I suspect it will last years....

This gadget works...mostly
There is no 'flavor'. But it does work to keep the cats away from places they shouldn't be. However, sometimes the refill doesn't work.

Ssscat Kit
Works very well for my circumstance. I use it to keep a cat out of a room. I believe I read that spray device leaks and will drain the contents even when not in use, and that does seem to be the case. However, I believe just seeing the can is enough to keep my cat away, because she hasn't set it off for weeks. If it did not leak, it would get five stars.
