Fluxuator Dual Head Flux applicator

I’m a heating engineer and have been for thirty years and I must admit I was a little sceptical about this when I first saw one on YouTube but I decided to give it a try, when it arrived I opened it and thought ok it’s plastic, no surprise there as most things are these are these days but to be honest it’s pretty robust and this was tested almost immediately as it slipped out of my hand onto a tiled floor and it survived with no damage whatsoever, not even a scratch, this is promising I thought, I was pleasantly surprised it came with flux as well, how good it was remained to be seen, as I am in the process of improving and upgrading my heating system I set to work with my new gadget and I’m over the moon with it, the flux seems great and the most important thing is it’s convenient and extremely clean with no mess at all and when finished with a handy cap to keep the unused flux clean from contamination in my tool bag, the supplied brush is a little chintzy but so far it’s working fine, great tool and and worth a punt 👍😎

I have seen this around for a while and wanted to try it. Having now used it on a couple of recent heating installations I would recommend it. The most notable improvement over normal flux in a tub and flux brush is that my hands stay more clean compared to the traditional way. Also by not having to use a brush its very quick and easy to apply. It does take a little getting used to in terms of regulating the amount of flux to push through from the storage body to the integrated outlets. At first I was being impatient and over rotating which resulted in the flux excessively discharging out. If you do need to use a separate brush for 28mm there is one built into the back of the head which just unscrews which I found handy. I'm not quite sure its value for money as a tube only seems to last on installation (average 10 rads, piping and boiler). But its definitely cleaner and efficient so maybe when you look at that its does save money. You can get refills but there's not much difference in cost when compared with buying another whole unit.

Prior to this, I was learning to braze using a tub of flux and ended up getting it on my gloves and then subsequently all over the pipes, leading to corrosion marks and less pretty pipework. Fast forward to life with the fluxuator, and all my pipework is much cleaner and the entire process is a lot faster. The brush is also a nice touch for doing the inside of connectors - you can tell it's been developed by plumbers, for plumbers! It is a bit of a novelty - nothing this offers can't be achieved with a normal tub of flux - but the convenience of the all-in-one package makes the job a lot less speedy and methodical for DIY plumbers.

I have seen several popular YouTube plumbers using this device and thought I would give it a try. The delivery mechanism is good and makes it easier to apply flux all the way around around the pipes particularly when they are clipped to a wall. I do not think the flux is very good. I intend to discard the flux and replace it with a tried and tested brand. 5 stars for the applicator. 2 for the flux.

Been soldering for 40 years (yes really) and scoffed at this when it was I think on dragons den. Intrigue however go the better of me and I decided to recently purchase one. Its is very easy to use and does indeed apply flux at a sufficient rate. Its neat and easy to store and pick up fro your kit and gets into most places. The big issue is its contents. I see others have agreed the fix is not great. Unless you clean anything but brand new pipe the solder does not run. I use Laco flux which is very forgiving so am aware of the difference on identical pipe. There is no instructions on how to re-fill the unit once empty so are you expected to throw it away ? I think the unit would be better to be sold empty and modified to allow you to somehow fill it with your own flux which I shall attempt soon.

Bought this a while ago and just reordered a new one. So much cleaner and easier than having a pot and a brush but also, I’ve cleaned my old one out and. Now I’ve put pipe sealing paste In it and it works an absolute treat on nut and olives (As long as it’s not too thick of a paste) Robust and clean. Very much worth it. You can buy it once or twice and then refill it with your own preferred flux and or jointing compound. And it works great regardless of what’s in it! Impressed.
