This compound is not just for paint returns dull metal finishes back to a polished mirror shine.
When I first bought Griot's Complete Compound, I wasn't really sure what to expect, I had low expectations. Little did I know that I was in for a big surprise, my first thought was I had completely wasted my money, because I already had Turtlewax light-duty metal polish compound which is white, and Turtle wax heavy duty red compound, which both of these products work and I mostly have no complaints but one. The light-duty TW compound was frustrating me, mostly because it was only good for light scratches and surface marks so I needed something else for heavy-duty scratches and that's where Grigots Complete compound comes in. Now ideally this is for glossy painted surfaces, but I had to see if those would work on chrome plated and other metal finishes to see what it did. After using it, I was pleasantly surprised, if you look at the pictures that I provided of a 1970s Schwinn stamped bottom bracket you'll notice there is a difference especially if you look at the third picture of the two keyed washers one says dull one says shiny. The shiny keyed washer is after I used compound and wax, whereas the dull keyed washer (granted this was cadmium-plated parts I was polishing) is what it already looked like with no polish or compound applied. Now as for if it is heavy-duty at first that was hard to say. But after using it I would say at least for polishing metal I'd say it's more medium-duty to heavy-duty. For glossy coated paint it would work great, I am sure, and I will test it on my 1965 Schwinn Deluxe Stingray I am repainting burnt coppertone orange after I apply a clear coat. As for metal polishing, it seems like it works pretty well and I couldn't be happier. There are some chrome-plated parts I want to try out next and see what the results would be, for the moment though I am very pleased with this product. For the price it seems a little steep for compound but obviously, there's a major difference between cheap compound that is more clay/playdoughy-like (not really sure how else to describe that), vs a more expensive compound that is more like cream or toothpaste consistency. Would I use this over Turtlewax? Yes and no, it depends if I need to remove light scratches or medium scratches. or if I want something more cream than clay-like, compared to turtle wax I will admit that it takes a lot more to clean up turtle wax because especially if it gets into spoke holes on a hub its a big pain in the butt, whereas Griot's actually does really well cleaning up with just water or soapy water especially if it's left to dry. Though I will clean it off with a damp/wet towel and I've never had issues. Really water isn't necessary as the user is supposed to use straight compound and then just wipe it off with a microfiber towel. Granted I have used an old bath towel and it doesn't seem to be a problem because I can polish it with like microfiber towel or rag. However, it is strongly recommended that you do not use a bath dish towel or paper towel as it leaves fuzz whatever it is called behind. However with an old bath towel that doesn't even do that I've never had an issue with it. Also, make sure you wear gloves as it does dry out the skin, and if you have sensitive skin always wear gloves if you're not using this on your car and you are polishing metal parts especially those with round shape surfaces like a handlebar and you're using an electric or battery operated polisher or a Dreamel is sure to wear goggles or a face mask as this will get in your eyes. The first time using this compound I used it with some polishing pad accessories on a Dremel I got some of it on my glasses which wasn't bad because when I cleaned my glasses later on I could see much better. It also says on the bottle not to use plastic or porous surfaces. So I won't be doing that. I would buy this again in heart beat, great stuff. I highly recommend it.

Actual Magic
This is like no other compound I have ever used. Compared to a couple of "Heavy-Cut" compounds in my toolbox, this one actually works FASTER and requires less work/steps to get back to showroom shine. This erases small/light scratches with no effort at all. It removed some baked-in water spots in record time also. It did all of this without excessive wear on the finish of the car and with very minimal dusting. Highly recommended for amateurs that are trying for thr first time to correct paint issues.

Excellent product
Pretty good product. We had a neighborhood cat that left some decent size scratches on top of our hood and this compound took out most of these scratches. Also left a nice shine.

Worked great for getting out small scratches
I would buy again great for getting out. Small scratches cleaned up well easy to use with a buffer. This is a good product.

Brought back the deep luster, removed scratches
I finally got around to trying this and this will now be my go-to compound. My car had hairline scratches here and there. Lots of fiberglass bodywork on my 911, and the entire car was resprayed two years ago. Under harsh parking garage light, the scratches were obvious. I have an orbital buffer, have used 3M compound, various types of waxes over the past two years, and nothing seemed to get out these annoying tiny hairline scratches. I finally tried GRIOTS 10862 because I've been a long time customer of their leather care cream. I applied this compound by hand, with a cloth applicator. I applied it in a back-and-forth motion (not in circular swirls). I applied a small amount, and basically rubbed back and forth until the compound eventually vanished and the finish was a deep red glossy shine. This stuff blew me away. 98% of small scratches gone, and some areas that were a tiny bit 'foggy' brought up to their full deep glossy potential. I tried it on the rear bumper and was so amazed that I actually did the ENTIRE car by hand, spending hour after hour bringing my paint to it's full potential. Car people will understand the satisfaction of bringing out the imperfections and making your paint shine, even if you have to do it inch by inch, using your hands instead of a machine. Long story short, this compound is amazing. Removes scratches, embedded road grime, hazy and foggy areas, and results in a deep gloss. I also used it to remove some scratches from my headlights. I'm a car person. I've been through the entire line of 3M products and have been happy with those, but I am more than happy with this. I have also painted cars for nearly 18 years as a hobby and past time. Awesome!

This works really well!!
I had tried to polish out the car scratches with a nano cloth, but all it did was remove the glossy finish in those areas, thus making the scratches even more noticable. So I got this in the hopes it would restore the glossy shine in those areas and it did!! My car looks fantastic again now (albeit still with the little scratches, but at least there isnt a halo of worn away gloss also!!) It was really easy to use - I just put it on the sponge, applied it and then wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. I think it will last a long time. And the bottle itself will last forever, because you only really need a little bit. Great value for the cost.

May need a more aggressive compound
I bought this compound to get swirl marks out of my trucks paint. I may not have been aggressive enough because there are still swirl marks. It goes on and spreads easy enough. When I came behind with wax it looks better.

This is a great product works very well in removing polish swirls I’ve used this on multiple occasions and had great results would not hesitate to recommend it It’s a bit expensive coming from the US but I still think it was worth it for me

Griots products are great. Always use this polish and it gives a very nice shine. Top it off with Griots wax and super shine.

As a pro in detailing, I like to try all products in market. Tha one I don't advise.

Honestly this is one of the best compound I've ever used. I've used this all over my 2008 Ford Escape which had a ton of swirl marks and scratches and this compound completely got rid of all those marks. I used an applicator pad and applied it throughout the car by hand. The compound easily applies and drys off after thorough rubbing. Check out my pictures for a sample of the scratches before and after. I'm a beginner with all of this but I had no issues with the product. Recommended for any car owner!

Excellent value, this is my new go-to for heavy paint correction. Does not sling at all, it's a very thick consistency, easily worked for 2-3 passes on a sedan's hood. Just mist some water on the dried patches if more passes are required. I'd rate this on the same level as M105 by Meguiar's, and 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, in terms of its cutting ability. I'd say it's a step below Würth's red top compound. For the price, I'm very satisfied with this compound for minor paint correction. This will not replace wet sanding for heavier defects. Use a hard foam pad, or a Meguiar's microfibre cutting pad.
