Kwikset 300T 3 CP RCL RCS BBPKG Tylo Bed/Bath Knob in Polished Brass

I purchased this knob from Amazon a year ago because my husband could never manage to drive to town and purchase a replacement for one of our old broken bathroom knobs. So I ordered one online and, thanks to Amazon Prime, it arrived two days later. Husband could never get around to installing our brand new door knob so I took a deep swallow and attempted it myself. It took me about 5 minutes to install which included the 2 minutes I needed to find a Phillips screwdriver in his toolbox. I didn't need to replace my existing faceplate as the door knob worked fine with the existing one but a faceplate was included, if needed.This door knob is an ANSI grade 3 lock, not great for an entry door but good enough for a bathroom. So far, after one year of use and abuse, I have had no problems. I did have to order Kwikset emergency keys because the grandkids have a habit of locking the door and closing it when they leave but that is a whole other issue.

I love the result: door knobs that work whichever way you twist them, and that close and open smoothly. I purchased a total of four to replace the 30+ year old Kwikset hardware that was in place when I bought my home. But, beware, I bought new Kwikset to replace old Kwikset and ran into a problem with two of the strike plates. The old strike plates that were removed didn't have the perpendicular tab that insert into the door frame hole like the new Kwikset strike plates that came in the package. This tab reduces the width of the strike plate opening which means that the door and latch must move about 1/8th inch more closed to latch. Two of the door latches wouldn't close this extra difference, and the only solution was to bend the tab off the new strike plate, then use a file to remove the portion of the tab that remained.

Matches my other door handles and came with a key to unlock it from the outside. Nice 👍🏻

I basically buy Kwikset locks for everything these days. I have installed a lot of them & am happy with the quality, finish, components & durability.Disclaimer: No one has ever given me anything for free off Amazon, as I am apparently neither: Funny enough, verbose enough, factual enough, post enough pictures of 'it' in action or I simply don't buy enough stuff every year to warrant anyone wanting to try to get my opinion. I bought this because I moved in with a friend, and the bedroom I use did not have a lock on the door.This particular one, or type, is the kind you can unlock from the outside, by using a pin, or in this case; the included unlocker thingie.Where I am, it is no big deal, but if you are looking for true privacy, or happen to live with a prankster, or peeping tom, or something, you might not want a doorknob that someone can easily unlock. However if you have young children who like to lock themselves into rooms that don't have this feature, and then begin flushing things, then this might be just the doorknob you need.It was easy to install, and thus far has worked as expected. Of course, I was expecting it to work as a doorknob and lock, so my expectations were not all that high.For the price and quality, I can't complain.

Original Review March 2014Installed this to replace an older doorknob that was not functioning well. Installed without a hitch. The issue I had was with some of the manufacturing quality. When I put in the 2 long screws to connect the two sides together, one of them stripped. Not very impressed.Update November 2014Recently I was adjusting this doorknob and I discovered that the long screws were both fine. I thought is stripped as when I put the screw in I felt is catching on something but not firmly. When adjusting it I discovered I missed the screw hole. Now the door knob is in tight. Sorry if my original review affected anyone's decision to buy this quality product.

It installed fine on the door and everything works, but it is assembled backwards - the screws that hold it together should be on the inside of the door, where the lock is, but on this one, the screws are on the outside of the door, so basically someone outside the door can just unscrew it, remove the handle, and open the door. That's not an issue in a lower security area, but if you are buying a locking door it ought to have the screws on the correct side so that it isn't so easy to defeat the lock. Other than that, the fit and finish are what you expect for a door knob of this price range.

We had a similar door knob that finally broke(plastic parts internally) on the bathroom door. After doing without a door knob for a while and astonished at the high prices locally for a single door knob, I decided to purchase this from Amazon. In about 10 minutes total (probably was less time) I had installed this door knob. It's very easy to piece together compared to other expensive brands I've used before. It also came with the correct strike plate to fit my door opening which was the problem I ran into with the high priced local ones. I installed it about 2 months ago and haven't had a single issue out of it.
