Fundamentals of Database Management Systems 2nd Edition

It's a nice hardbound version of a textbook I need. It got here weeks ago and I am posting this so the seller will know since I don't seem to have an option for seller feedback.

Happy with the quick service so that I wouldn't get behind in class! This will help me achieve a decent grade in class.

First time renting a book on Amazon and I give it an A+

Browsing through it, it looks like it has some good information in it. There are some charts that help you understand the concepts and review questions to help you study for tests.

I understand this is a tough subject to explain in a textbook, but the author doesn't really define many of the key terms or properly explain some of the concepts. Instead, the text relies on examples to do the teaching. For example, if the book contains section on what a database is, it never actually says "A database can be defined as....." or anything like that. It says something to the extent of "And what is a database? Well if we look at the example below we can see that the information on Acme Company represents a database." Very difficult to follow and required lots of looking up terms and cross referencing information with other sources.

This book needs to be the foundation for anyone wanting to know about SQL programmming.
