My underground irrigation wire was somehow damaged and i needed to buy a battery operated timer, these are to replace the 24v AC solenoids with DC solenoids, the work great

Works perfectly as a replacement for DIG 7001 solenoid
Maybe I got lucky, but this item worked perfectly for me. I have an old DIG battery-operated timer, model 7001. The solenoid went out, and the model has been discontinued. I couldn't find a direct replacement (or, rather, I found what MIGHT have been the right thing, but it was too expensive). So I took a chance with this one. I was a bit disconcerted when it arrived, because it indicated "9 to 30V", while the prior one said only "9V". But I wired it up, red to red, black to black. Made sure the battery polarity was correct (important for a latching solenoid, like this one). And it works like a charm. The one slight issue is that it is a little larger than the original, so the main timer casing cannot snap onto the holder properly. But it is still possible to push it in much of the way, so it'll be perfectly stable unless someone nudges it.The latching solenoid is nice - it may prolong battery life, because it requires just a pulse of electricity to shift the solenoid to the open position, then another pulse to release it (a non-latching solenoid requires constant power to hold it open). So, I'm a happy camper.

The picture looks different
I thought this might be a bigger one, but it is just the exact same one that comes with the battery timer.

Can be used to replace Galcon S-392 from a DIG 7001
I can confirm the other review about using it to fix an old DIG 7001 battery hose timer/valve. The latching solenoid on the device did not hold the plunger in place after the opening pulse. I don't know how a magnet goes bad, but that is apparently what happened. Like the other reviewer, I experienced the new one being bigger so everything didn't snap together, but some tape worked for me. Note, the threads are the same, it is just the body of the solenoid that is bigger. If you take the old solenoid off and the plunger doesn't stay in when pushed in manually then it is defective. The packaging says it is for 13v devices, but the 9v of the DIG 7001 works fine. You will need to cut the wires and solder it to the old wiring, as there is no connector. Suggest using heat shrink tubing on the solder joints

stuck solenoid occasionally
love the product in general but occasionally need to replace soledoid due to stuck metal piece - at times the metal part gets stuck and wont turn the solenoid on and off again - new solenoid fixes the issue. I have about 50 solonoids on my small farm and when one stops working it takes a while to find and this is typically the issue on a failed system

Saves a lot of time
If you don’t have to replace the valve. This is the way to go! It’s great for add ons as well

This was perfect as the old electric system was broken and had no power point. Plugged these in to battery timer and worked a treat.
