Makes Ironing less of a chore
Love this ironing board cover. The "metallic" fabric makes ironing so much easier than with simple cotton/polyester covers. It fits my Brabantia ironing board like a glove.

This is a must have for great Ironing!
This is a must have for your Ironing board. Before I applied this, I could feel the metal of the Ironing board when I was Ironing. This Brabantia felt underlay makes it easier to Iron in less time. I'm thankful that I have really sharp scissors, because the felt is thick. I do own the Brabantia Ironing board in a size "D" ...When you go to cut this. Turn the Ironing board upside down and lay the board on the felt and trace around it with a thin marker. I like to add about a 1/2 inch more, when cutting, to cover the sides of the Ironing board.

Great, durable cover, needs a pad under it
Bought a decent ironing board (not at Amazon, elsewhere), it suffered from having a thin, flimsy cover and a thin pad. My mom taught me to press hard with the iron, "smash the wrinkles out", so I do. That caused the pattern of the ironing surface of the board to come through the original thin cover and pad , transferred onto my clothes, giving them small waffle/ fish scale indentations. This is a very reasonably priced cover so I took a gamble. Happy I did. It's made of aluminized cotton which reflects the heat back into the garment and gives it a tough, non-stick surface and it's perforated so the steam escapes easily. It's slightly over-sized for my 49x18 ironing board, so there's plenty of material to wrap around and securely fasten it. The best part is the way that it attaches to the board. It has a strong nylon string stitched into it's perimeter that you cinch down tightly to hold it on. Included is a small plastic piece that grabs the two ends of string allowing you to cinch it even tighter, then the excess string wraps around it. THEN, there's a taught rubber bungee type cord that goes towards the wide end of the board, underneath with hooks on each end that grabs the string on each side (you have to pull on it pretty hard to get it clasped on each side), that further tensions the string and really pulls out all of the wrinkles and holds the cover on tight (see the photos above if my description lost you). I retained the thin polyester mat/ pad that was under the original cover and used that in addition to this cover. This cover has a thin layer of foam bonded to the underside, but by itself, it's not enough of a pad- you need a layer of felt or polyester- i.e., an ironing board pad. You can't use just this cover by itself, it'd be too thin. The instructions included do say that, BTW, so any other reviewers here whining that it's too thin should RTFM (read the freaking manual). I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, because it would be perfect if they included a second rubber bungee for the thinner end of the board as well. It's nice and tight at the wider end with the included bungee, it'd be perfect if it were that tension the whole length. I can get one for a few $$ at a local shop, which I will. Update June 22 2013: I use this cover 5~6 mornings per week to iron work shirts, also to iron regular clothes as well and have for over 1 1/2 years now. It is still going strong!!! No obvious signs of wear. I use heavy spray starch when I iron which builds up, but a spray of warm water and a terry towel wipes it right off. I've worn out the pad liner underneath it so I am back on Amazon to buy a replacement (found a heavy duty cotton pad which should last longer). This cover is still solid and performing. The price of this has gone up $4.00 since I bought it but it is still well worth it. Get it. Update April 2024. I've now bought a few of these, and I've tried others to save money. These are worth the extra money. Others burn and crack, these last. Others are ill-fitting, these fit. Once you have them attached snugly you run a hot iron over the entire surface and it'll shrink slightly to a tight fit. You can't iron a shirt flat if the surface is not flat. The coating is good, etc. This is the one.

I give Amazon 5 stars though
Amazon reacted incredibly quickly!!!! I have just got the second replacement tonight. Again, many thanks Amazon. I greatly appreciate your efforts. However, it’s nothing to do with Amazon though, this product is just bad and looks terribly cheap so that we would only waste our money on nothing. If it were like 10 bucks, I think I would compromise it’s quality though. The first one was simply defect and the second one was with big brown stains. I leave my review about the first review. Hope it will help you: I have just got a replacement. And this time there are BIG DIRTY STAINS!! How disappointing!!! The first one was defect and another string didn’t move at all. It took me more than 30 minutes to give it a try. In the end, I figured out that it WAS kaput from the very beginning. The second one looks like used for ages and there are huge, looks-like-burned dark spots. The product seems like as if it had been stocked for decades. At least, Amazon reacted immediately after complaining about the first one. And the new one was delivered two days later and I was very happy about their quick reaction. Amazon does care about us!! Well done! However, it makes me extremely frustrated and disappointed that even the new replacement was not in a perfect condition to offer consumers in general. I have never experienced something like this before. I have been using Brabantia products for uncountless years and was always completely satisfied with them. Indeed, I am one of their loyal customers. They used to symbolize “QUALITY”. However, this product itself is poor. The material is super thin and looks cheap. BUT it’s all about good wills and sincerity. Those represent the entire company, which are more important than just its quality. It took me a plenty of time, money and above all huge disappointments after being delivered twice in a row. Time is money and we cannot buy time. Nevertheless, all the bad experiences now, big thanks for your efforts, dear Amazon!

Fits great, perfect padding, wonderful replacement for my no-name wide board
I was wary from reading other reviews, but I was desperate to find a replacement cover for my no-name 2002 Walmart(?) wide ironing board. The original cover was a natural colored twill with a foam backing. However, the foam backing was dried out and falling through the surface's grids...had to find something but nothing in the stores fit my 48x18" board. Good ol' Amazon--I want to rename you Amazin'! This cover is superior to my original because it has the silvery slick surface for ironing and the padding is better than my original board's. I love my board because it's wide and very tall. This cover, although it fits up to 49", still adjusts snugly for my 48" board. The "shoulders" are at the exact right place--though because the cover has a drawstring closure, it should fit boards that taper at different places than mine. Note that the cover has little perforation holes which I didn't realize, but seems fine. I was certain from others' reviews that I'd need some sort of additional pad--but NO. This is fine all by itself to prevent any grid marks from coming through. (what are you guys ironing on--sheepskin?!) I was also worried that this "upscale" brand cover wouldn't work with my good old Walmart board--but it's perfect. It also comes with a little rubber band type bungee cord. I didn't really need to add it, but didn't want to just throw it out, so I did. I think most people will be very happy with this product and am SO glad I overlooked some of the negative reviews. (and it came in 2 days!)

WARNING
Warning seems a strange title for a 5 star review...but I must issue the warning nonetheless. My cover arrived with a broken adjustment cord, or it had never been secured, so when I began pulling the cords at the front of the board, they began sliding out of the cover altogether. Perhaps had I not been talking on the speaker phone I would have noticed the problem before the cords were almost halfway out. As it was I needed to dig out my knitting supplies and a large eye needle so I could re-thread the cord into the cover. Then I had to tie off the broken ends of the cord. When I tried to use the band that comes with the cover, it caused the cord to come undone and I had to re-thread a portion of it a second time. So be sure your cord is in one piece or has been tied off at the square back end before trying to fit the cover at the front. So why a 5-star rating you may ask...because this cover fits my board the way the Polder cover never did. Once the issue of the broken cord was resolved it was very easy to adjust the fit of the cover...which is wrinkle free and ready meet my iron. Rowenta DW9080 Steamium 1800-Watt Steam Iron with 400-Hole Platinum Soleplate Another great purchase from Amazon For any of you who may not have purchased a replacement cover for your European style ironing boards...they are not all shaped alike and the Polder cover does not have those "shoulders" near the front of the board so it never quite fits.
