Good for what it does
I enjoy the novelty of the RX0 ii, with its tiny form factor and ability to shoot 4k video. The aperture is nice for getting a decent background blur effect, and the focal length is wide enough for a blog style approach. Having the back panel flip out and around is great for that as well. The sound is fine for voice, and the battery life is good for shooting short scenes (about an hour, I would estimate). That is a bit limiting, and requires that you pack along some extra batteries or have a plan about your video beforehand.

Best at what it’s designed for. NOT an action camera!
This camera is great at what it was designed for and a must have pocket camera for the professional photographer. It is rugged and will give you top of the line photos and spectacular video. When using it for vlogging you should definitely invest in a gimbal as the in body stabilization is worthless. This is NOT an action camera. It will however blow any GoPro away with the video and photo quality due to its 1” sensor.

Great camera to get in close to record musicians on stage!
Battery life was kind of low but I ran it on USB power and didn't have any issues over 12 hours of shooting. The app while kind of laggy was great for starting and stopping recording and to allow for manual focusing as well as changing settings based on ambient light. Used in conjunction with a LumeCube I was able to control both remotely and never had to mess with the rig.

Had high hope for the Sony RX0 II
I have been a Sony camera user for long time. Started with Nex-5 days, to the A7III, now. Was hoping to find a GoPro size camera, but with better quality for both videos and photos. Heard some great reviews about the RX0 II over the GoPro. Of course the price is twice as GoPro as well. Was really looking forward to it.Once I got it, yes the quality is better than GoPro, both videos and photos. But its still nothing close to any of the mirrorless camera, not even close to A6000. Over all focusing is slow, the shutter is slow, I can't really do much on the go photos or videos. By the time I have focused, or pretty the shutter, the moment has already passed. The only thing I liked about it, is the size of the camera. Everything else was so so. This just won't work for what I need.

This camera rocks. If you understand it.
I’ve seen lots of mixed reviews about this camera and as a pro photographer, I’d like to add my insight. For starters, this is not a GoPro or a typical action camera. This is a camera that can perform more manual functions than anything like a typical action cam. For example, I shoot real estate properties, and this little guy can shoot bracketed photos in wet weather that I can then edit in photoshop later on. A GoPro can’t do that, nor does it have a sensor large enough to produce the kind of images that this camera can produce. It does have limitations, but it’s tiny. It’s a trade off. Overall, this is an excellent, compact Sony rig that will give you that “Sony 4k” video look that you cannot get from an action cam. The one inch sensor does fairly well in low light.I’d say this is a tool for more experienced photographers and videographers. Also, let me correct one thing I keep seeing: you CAN turn the LCD screen back on while shooting. Just press the “enter” button. By default, most small cameras will turn off the screen after about a minute, to save battery life. This one is no exception, but you can turn it right back on if needed, just like a GoPro.Buy this if you need something small, weatherproof and rugged, with the ability to shoot similarly to an Alpha or RX séries camera.

Wanted to love it, but sadly not to be
I really wanted to like this camera. But the 'cons' are just too much.- Battery life means you need to constantly be turning the camera on and off, or it will go dead on you.- Low light pics jump to really high ISO and are grainy, and still have blur. So it's a no go for indoor shots- Display does not work well in sunlight, so outdoor shooting can be challenging- No way to get night shots, even with a tripod. You would think with this huge sensor this would be easy.My wife's Samsung phone takes much better shots.- Menu is driven by really small buttons and is very confusing - even after 2 years of ownership- Fixed F4 lens really limits what you can do.- Hard to switch between video and stills w/o the small tripod/handle BT accessory- Smartphone based shooting control is buggy and hard to set upGood in water and wet places, easy to carry. This camera needs better firmware. Are you listening Sony??I'm going to get another travel camera this year.

Way beyond a point and vluvk, RXO II is fully professional grade.
I have three RXO IIs configured for portable multicam recording all centrally managed by Android app as well as PC software. With full pixel HDMI read out, mic input and separate power input with timecode triggering, zebra, audio level, histogram, eye tracking, and slog 2 gamut to name just a fraction what this camera offers is simply amazing. Batteries are easily upgraded to twice the power and overheat shut off can be disabled. With this many functions, you really have to give yourself the time to study the extensive online manual and hdr recording documentation.
