The Spirit of Kaizen: Creating Lasting Excellence One Small Step at a Time

VERY useful for creating lasting change!!
The principle idea of this book, is that to create lasting change, you should take VERY TINY steps/actions (this helps you get past any "resistance" your brain might have). This book is simple, but powerful. The premise has been used by many successful people in changing even deeply ingrained habits. This book is focused more on how the main ideas of Kaizen can be applied to situations in a work setting. I highly recommend this book. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Small change = Big results
We all seem to get greedy in our work and personal lives when setting goals and making changes. Robert Maurer makes the case that small, consistent change will lead to tremendous results over time. The word "kaizen" means "good change". Small change is effective because it doesn't threaten people, so they can continue to function without fear of failure or being overwhelmed by changes. The ultimate paradox of change is that doing "the least possible" will eventually lead to the best outcome. After reading this book you will understand why so many grand change programs end in failure. This book should be especially useful to business managers and leaders, although I have also found it very helpful as a parent and in my personal life.

Sensible and compelling
Kaizen, small steps to change, is as simple as powerful. This is superbly explained and demonstrated, through real examples, in this book. There is psychological science behind the concept of kaizen, which is clearly and simply described. This book is great for people who want to change, in their professional or personal lives. The ideas are radical almost, flying in the face of accepted wisdom. It's a short, simple read. Just like kaizen.

Outstanding -Real world approach to implementing permanent change!!
I stumbled on "The spirit of Kaizen" when surfing the audio channel during a long distance Trans-Atlantic flight and could not stop listening. I downloaded the book to my iPad and have bought 10 copies for all my managers.Robert Maurer adopts a real-world, common sense approach to implementing a quality program without the bells and whistles. The contrasts between the Japanese and American psyches helps the reader bring it home when considering change initiatives particularly in the noisy, competitive and distracted business environments in which we find ourselves today. You should read it together with Chip and Dan Heath's book, "Switch".Great read.

Getting to know Kaizen in small steps
I liked this book a lot. Personally I have limited time for reading efforts and this book kept me going pretty easily while getting in touch with Kaizen. The book has different chapters with an individual focus on topics in which the author describes steps on how to proceed the Kaizen-way. I found that a.) easy to read b.) useful because of practical examples and c.) enlightening on what Kaizen focusses on.

Love it.
I had heard about kaizen before but had not looked into it very deeply. I am now a complete convert and an evangelist for it. I'm sure my work colleagues are sick of me talking about it. It's explained simply with lots of examples so you can see how it works. If you are looking to make changes but don't know where to start or are worried about people's reactions then get this book and try the suggestions.

An thought provoking read.
This is a nicely written and though provoking book particularly for those in management - similar in some ways to the likes of the One Minute Manager style of books.Raises questions rather than providing comprehensive answers - this book presents a method of thinking rather than a definitive strategy.Worth a read.I liked it.

A simple read that is a great guide for those new to the philosophy of kaizen and a great reminder to the seasoned.
