Is there violence and sex in this? YES. It is also a holy text. Which makes it pretty epic reading. The Puranas are amazing books of the Devas, Asuras, Humans, and more in Hindu culture and in the framework of our universe. The Puranas discuss different lives, situations, and stories which have great meaning, show great humanity, and are also some extremely exciting reading. Especially the Shiva Purana.This is a wonderful translation and I highly recommend that anyone who just wants a good read take a look at it. Because no matter what your beliefs are or religion is, I promise you, if nothing else, this will be quite the engaging story for you to read! You will never be bored.

Its a far more complex story line than the Mahabharata by Ramesh Menon. The Siva Purana is really several stories within a story within a story. So this multi-level approach may take some time getting used to. However, the author does a great job with ensuring that you aren't confused.

I’m no expert, but I found this to be a very engaging translation and the stories - from epic bloody battles to the divine romance between Shiva and Parvati - are fantastic.

Some of the coition scenes narrated should be read with contextual nature rather than eroticism. It is not entire but surely gives an insight into the creator of all we see & don't see. A brief history of Timeless Siva.

Felt ashamed when pornography touched the gods :(

I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to dive deeper into Hindu mysticism. Go read this now.

Easy to understand, flows well. Enlightened. It really helped my understanding of the hindu faiths. It was the first book of hindu tales I've read, and I'm absolutely looking forward to more.

Misleading, fabricated additions which detract from the quality and cheapen the original story. This book needs to be edited or removed. I wrote a longer review on the print version which contains more info on this.

A piece of marvel... that everyone should read through...

Every page is so alive. It's like seeing every character come right out of the pages-for real. None stop page turner. What a magnificent book of the GREAT MAHADEVA!!!! Also His relationship with the other Great God Lord Vishnu and Lord and Lord Brahma and their Devine Consort. Om Namah Shivaya!!!

The concept of time can be understood from this work. The purana is very brief but a delight to read.
