The braided hairstyles in this beautiful book really are stunning, as the title says. Author Monae Everett makes it easy to follow her step-by-step instructions with beautiful photos and clear directions. Not only is this an excellent book to have on hand for when you want to create a statement braid, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the book itself, the heavy pages, and beautiful photos, as well as photos of all of the tools you'll need and even photos for prepping the hair for certain styles. I usually buy books in Kindle format, but having the paperback on hand lets me refer to the instructions more easily, and gives my model something to look at and choose from while she's waiting.Stunning Braids: Step-by-Step Guide to Gorgeous Statement Hairstyles

Beautiful braids and how to create them step-by-step in the book. I really like the illustrations and how the braids are broken down for each step. I can do basic braiding, french and plating, but need more variety for summertime with longer, thick hair. It takes a while to practice on my own but extra mirrors help. It's worth it to learn a beautiful style that is flattering. I received several compliments for my first style and look forward to trying the rest. I have thick, coarse hair. Some styles are more suited for that and look "bohemian" but others are more suited for flat ironed or straight, shiny hair. I usually get a blow-out or "keratin treatment" a few times a year, making it easy for me to wear my hair either way. It will help so I am not limited in using this book.

I like this book because it has step by step instructions on how to successful execute the hair styles.

These braids are stunning! Instructions are clear with great photos. I don't think I could do them on myself.

Numerous types of hair pins, brushes, combs, & hair sprays and gels are all featured. The very first how-to is a tutorial on how to do a simple braid. Each tutorial grows in difficulty until readers learn how to make a Knotted Updo, or my personal favorite: The Triple Mermaid Updo! I loved that the author took time to explain how to do certain methods such as backcombing or making flatiron curls.The hairstyles are both graceful and functional. I could see myself using these for a day at the beach or an evening wedding! I plan to go through this book with my 9 year old daughter who LOVES styling hair. She has already mastered the basic braid and a few of the others,but I think this is a book she would definitely benefit from. The instructions are easy to follow, and the illustrations are clear and concise and show what needs to be done. Some of the tutorials have as many as 26 steps, but I think that is a good thing because it shows exactly each step in detail.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys styling hair, or for someone who is just looking for a new hairstyle! The book's bendable cover and gorgeous photography will appeal to the visual senses. But once the book is open, everyone will love the simplistic approach that the author took to explaining each braid and the easy-to-understand steps for each style. The book begins with several pages that talk about the different products, brushes, accessories, and hair styles that you will need to craft these braids. Each style begins with a full page photograph of the completed braid with the name. There is a brief description and then step-by-step photographs and descriptions tell the reader exactly how to get the desired affect.My daughter and I loved this book. We both have longer hair and enjoyed trying out several of the styles on each other. The pictures are clear, the descriptions are easy to implement, and the braids are stylish.
