As long as you keep the propane on the pot stays warm.

Did anyone have issues with the burner staying on very low? I was able to brew pot very slowly and nothing after that, I had trouble getting the gas

Mine stays on warm using the low setting, I actually ran through a whole tank of fuel when I forgot to turn it off after brewing a pot.

Does this use the cone filters or the basket filters?

These use the standard basket filters, not the cone filters.

Has anyone tried starting with warm/hot water?

I use this coffeemaker in my cabin on a small propane stove, I boil the water first and I also heat the coffeemaker with a little hot water in the carafe, when the water boils in the enamel coffeepot, I pour the water from the carafe into my cup and then pour the hot water from the enamel coffeepot into the coffeemaker and turn up the heat. Coffee in 5 min, 10 min altogether. I only make 4 cups at a time. I add 4 cups water. Then I put the coffee in the enamel coffeepot and set it on the woodstove if I have a fire going. Saves propane.
