A good book covering all major kingdoms and time periods in kerala history.. A bit too factual I would say, so might be a bit boring at times.. But overall covers well the nuances of all major parts of the State.

It is a detailed and comprehensive overview of Kerala History, social structure , culture and arts, its politics. Some might call it slanted to the left, or archaic narrative, but it brings out the social evils and how modern Kerala overcame it. It may not read easy as a novel but is loaded with facts and maps.
