Next step
This is a great book for the second step in the car audio experience. Good content & great pictures that are pretty current.A lot of really good information. I learned a couple things I did not know. Book teaches you about protecting you system and has great pictures to reinforce everything the author is addressing. My next book is going to take me one step further. I have not found it but glad I got this one. BUY!!!!

Good book, should have been two great books
Overall, I think this is a decent useful book, but it kind of has a split personality. It covers the basics, like how to install a decent stereo upgrade in a daily driver, while also going into some pretty advanced show car areas. Since there are only so many pages in the book, neither area gets quite the full attention deserved. It would have been far better if this was two books along the lines of "Basic Mobile Electronics install" and "Advanced Mobile Electronics install", with both sections fleshed out with the attention they deserve. As it stands though, still a decent purchase.

Helpful
Helpful I guess. A lot of the examples are geared toward a car built for the SEMA show. Would've been nice to see installs on regular every day driver's. Otherwise has a bunch of info which may be useful to some. Full of color pictures which is good. It would be nice to see it updated and show how to run speaker wire from a door through a MOLEX connector and into a vehicle, etc...

OK book
Not a great book. The information presented is very basic that can very well be found elsewhere on the internet. There is nothing new in the book. If you have never installed before, this book may help understand what it might take, but buying this book is not worth for that. Much of the pages are wasted showcasing the author's custom fabricated panels, racks, enclosures let alone the intricate details on how to make one. There is no single wiring diagram I could find in the book on the common car audio "upgrades" people would normally do. For instance, most people these days would want to add amplifiers to factory stereo which may require using a line output converter and a signal processor like an equalizer or DSP. You will be disappointed if you are looking to install such a system. The author's technical knowledge is also very spotty. He doesn't care much explaining the jargon. He just writes a value of so and so of THD is better but doesn't care to explain what THD means and why.Do not waste your money. The book has long gone into the trash.

If you have questions about car audio and video this book is for you!
Have you ever been to car show and seen all the amazing cars with their custom made fiberglass door panels or their 19 speaker array instead of a backseat? You stood there in awe and wondered how they did that. Well now you don't have to wonder anymore. This book tells it all. From top to bottom you'll find out how to make your own dream car, or just install a simple radio or alarm. I was constantly impressed every time i seemed to have a new question, this book had the answers. Its a fun and easy read, and the all of the pictures along the way were icing on the cake. If i had one complaint it would be that this book didn't come out sooner, it could helped me save hours off my install and made it better to boot!
