So much potential
The information and knowledge in this are excellent. Wonderful instruction and teachings. However the narration is to me quite boring. The legend & lore fascinating, the storytelling dull.

The perfect companion
I had just joined the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids when I found this book. It is the perfect companion to study for the Bardic grade of the OBOD for it's discussion and analysis of the myth of Taliesin, and has continued to provide me with inspiration even now that I've completed the Druid grade in the organization. Well done

Such a treasure!
If you want to meet Ceridwen this book is fabulous. It's filled with exercises and spells to really connect you to the material.Kristoffer Hughes is a master story teller, bringing this myth to life and giving the reader a bird's eye view within the story.I wanted to connect with my Welsh heritage and I couldn't be happier with the journey of this book, thus far.I can't wait to read all his books!

Fantastic to start learning Welsh Mythology
I was recommended this by a Druid when I said I wanted to learn more about Welsh mythology. It's a really well done deep dive into the birth of Talisen. After reading it I felt I had a better grasp on basic Welsh mythology and it's gotten me excited to read some of the other older works. The guided meditation lets you find your own meaning in the myth and I think it's going to help me build a better foundation on my future studies.

It gives the reader a good introduction to the tale
This is a very interesting interpretation of a Druidic legend with roots deep in the ancient pre-Christian traditions of Wales. It gives the reader a good introduction to the tale, the meanings as interpreted by the the author, as well as others whom are pagan friendly as well as those not. Most importantly the insight onto the Welsh language and its pronounciation regarding the derivations and meanings of the characters names, such as the witch goddess Cerridwen, the Old blind man Morda and Gwion Bach. It transports one to the hills and mountains of north Wales, Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala) where the legend is centered. It is good to see the interpretation of this remarkable legend that has been handed to us through the mists of time by a native of the nation of Wales.

Wonderfully written
This was a great book. Some of my gods are welsh and it helped me understand a lot about welse beliefs and craft. Many times, irish, welsh, scottish and the early britons all get mashed together. But their beliefs do differ in various ways. And the gods are also different. The Dagda and Manannan are not the same in welsh as in irish. So this book helped me fill in some places

An in depth Exegesis on an old tale!
I have always been leery when it comes to new authors. Especially those who attempt to illustrate the essence of those tales near and dear to my heart. I am a Welsh Witch of a traditional path (non-Wiccan), and so I was skeptical about how this book would turn out. Would it be a waste of my money, or would it give me bits of useful information. I was astounded at how spot on Kristoffer was. As a fellow practitioner of ancient mysteries, Kristoffer illustrated the nitty gritty of each character in the Hanes Taliesin, viewing each persona in his or her own light and bringing the story together in such a way that true Awen can be achieved by the student.

Fantastic supplement to OBOD training!
Kris Hughes' book is an in-depth look at a pivotal Welsh tale--that of Taliesin. He examines all the characters in the tale, and discusses their relevance in the pursuit of modern paganism and Druidry. Kris himself is a pretty entertaining guy, and I've read both his books, so far... He's definitely an author to keep an eye on. :)

A gem of wisdom from our celtic past, that wants and needs to be retold and remembered
Born in raised in Wales as a mixed race person, though my mum is welsh, I had never really been interested into learning about welsh mythology and the spirituality therein. I was always searching for 'truth' in distant places, in lands that are foreign to me. It finally dawned on me that I have no good understanding of Native American 'Vision Quests' and 'Sweat Lodges' and it is very unlikely that I'm going to find a genuine Native American in Wales who will disseminate the information that tribes hold sacred.I'm well aware of the many 'plastic shaman' profiteering from the 'New Age'. I do however, love nature. I love the rural settings that have surrounded me all my life. Wales and the British isles has just as much a tradition of 'truth' and spirituality as much as the romanticized Native Americans etc. I am now ready to take that step to learn more about the history of MY land - Land of My Mothers. This book contains gems of information and I will be purchasing and buying the authors other books. There are no New Age gimmicks to be found in this book either, phewwww. I have found a new respect and love for my heritage. Its funny how much of what I've been searching for was under my nose all this time. Amazing.... Anyways, this book really opened by eyes and the author has done a great job to bring things into the modern and in a very down to earth tone.

So glad I bought this book & I would highly recommend it!
A fantastic & unique book. I've never come across one like it! It explores the tale of Cerridwen & Taliesin-one of the stories central to the myth & lore of my adopted country, Wales. It is not a 'fluffy bunny' work but one that is in depth whilst still being eminently readable & enjoyable. There are many layers to it, like the myth itself. A must-have for all those interested in Welsh & Celtic lore it takes you on a fantastic year long journey of rituals, exploration & discovery, both of myth & ultimately of yourself. Do buy it. You won't regret that you did!
