This works!!!
Here's my story: In the 1990's I bought a Riddex from QVC. It lasted for over 20 years and was still working when I put my condo up for sale. I tossed it in the trash for real estate listing purposes and moved to a lake-house in a rural area. Within 2 weeks of throwing my Riddex away, I had a mouse in my condo. There were also several in a recently built mouse-house in the attached garage. I never had a mouse at all while the Riddex was plugged in. Now I live in a semi-rural area on a lake, and I've discovered a couple mice in the walls. I found droppings in a wall switch when I removed the cover. I went looking for another Riddex. I found a vintage original Riddex on eBay, saw the phone number on the back, Global Instruments, and inquired about getting another. The company now calls it Pest-a-cator 2000 and it's still made in the USA. There IS a Riddex still sold but it's made in China and it's not the original Riddex. So, I ordered this, plugged it in and within a week the mice are gone. This works.

So far, so good!
Last winter we didn't have a mouse problem with our manufactured double-wide as we had raccoons subletting the 'basement'. After our deck collapsed, we had to put up new skirting, which kept the raccoons out. Sadly, this invited the mice to return, and they were in the walls doing who knows what. The noise was driving my wife nuts, half the time I couldn't hear it. My wife bought some ultrasonic rodent repellers, they were totally ineffective. I ordered a Past-a-cator and plugged it in. The mice kept on chewing, but only for about a day. It took a day or so, but the mice have seemingly gone away! We haven't heard any noise for several days, including when the temperature has been in the low 20's, so guaranteed the mice would have returned if they could. Despite the fact that the product did not produce immediate results, it has worked and we are definitely happy. So if you buy one, be patient. It might take a day or two for the mice to get the message that they need to vacate the premises.

These do NOT work.
I had a mouse problem. I found where they were coming in and moved them to a nearby field one by one with a have-a-heart trap. Once I was fairly certain they were gone (i.e. no more mouse poop, traps set and remained empty for weeks, access closed off, etc.) I purchased five of these. I followed the instructions and made sure they were plugged into outlets with wires running around the rooms. I put one in my garage. The outlet is part of a circuit that runs all three walls of the garage and even wraps around next to the door on the 4th wall. There is a small gap on one side of the garage door where the mice can get in, and they did. I found poop and chewed towels. I was cleaning in there and just picked up a box and a little baby mouse fell out. There was another still in the box. I then saw the mother cautiously approach me and turn around, ran off, and hid. So, it's not like a mouse came in looking for something and quickly got out because of the unit, the mouse was making a home in there. Why?! Because these things are complete BS!! Now I have two tiny mice who will not survive without their mother. I carefully moved the baby that fell out back into the nest and left the box where the mother can hopefully move them somewhere safe. I don't want them living in my garage, but I also don't want to see the little babies suffer and die. Yes, I have compassion even for mice. In any case, do not buy these unless you're looking for a wall decoration with a blinking light. Any of the reviews that claim these work are simple coincidence. If you want to be mouse-free, (1) eliminate clutter, (2) close up any access points, (3) check often for evidence. We remained mouse-free for 2 years after I closed up the access point through which they were getting into the house. It had NOTHING to do with these scam units, though. Trust me! If it had anything to do with them, I wouldn't have just found a mouse nest in my garage!!!!

Works for us!
I was initially totally skeptical about using these. I read tons of reviews and folks posting pics of mice sitting next to one plugged in the wall! We had a big mouse infestation and even got to the point of calling in a professional. Nothing was working….UNTIL I bought these! OMG! I may have seen one or two mice initially, but then they were GONE! We have a large house and put one upstairs and one downstairs. We also have a vacation home in the country and always come in to mouse poop on the counters etc. We put two Pest a Cators up there too, and mice left! Thank you to whomever invented this!

Worked great….
I was having a problem with mice. To the point where I’d stay up battling them every night and catching at least one or two a day. I tried this, PRAYING that it would at least help to reduce the amount getting into the house. I am SHOCKED, thrilled and SOOO RELIEVED! This was my experience… the very 1st day I plugged it in…I still saw mice but did see significantly less than before. I also bleached EVERYTHING like a mad woman and removed everything from the area to give them less to hide behind that same day. By the second night, I only saw one mouse…it scurried toward the outlet this product is plugged into, stopped dead in the middle of the floor, jumped into the air and BOOKED it back to behind the wall it came from. The only other time I ever saw them jump like that was when I sprayed bleach where they were hiding and it jumped away from the area. I also noticed all the poop surprises I would find every morning were no longer appearing each day. By the end of the third day…I was ready to throw a party and couldn’t wait to tell others how amazingly this worked. I held back to be sure it wasn’t just because they HATE the bleach smell. So by the end of the first week…I was sooo upset when I started finding big fat poop (not the tiny poop the little ones I was battling were leaving) AND I had 3 tiny mice in my trap. Now to be fair…we had CRAZY rain/thunderstorms that week. That may have something to do with the increased activity. After that week and the discouraging return…like magic, there was NOTHING! No mice, no poop…finally, just peace! I have not had any recurrences since that bad week. I’ve had it for just over a month now. If you’re on the fence…just buy it! I pray it gives you the same peace it has for me May 2025 update- it seems as though the mice have gotten used to it to some degree? The problem is not as bad as it was, but I am definitely seeing evidence again. Maybe these devices have a shelf life and I need a new one or maybe it was never actually this device to start with. Maybe since my obsessive daily bleach cleaning seized, they’ve found their way back inside. I’ll be running some tests and update any useful information they yield.

This item appears to be Used, not new
Amazon won't allow me to mention why I get the impression this item was used and returned by another customer. Otherwise, it's a product I have used before that has worked very well and for a long time. As long as it still works, I'm okay with it. Just not sure it will last as long as the one I had before if it is in fact a returned item. Otherwise I would give it five stars.

These absolutely worked like a charm for us
These absolutely worked like a charm for us; both in the houses and the apartment buildings we own. Completely chased away our mouse problems. Caution though: several people in these reviews talked about how they bought a "whole bunch" and plugged them into lots of outlets, one guy even said he plugged them into every outlet in the room. That's a MISTAKE!!!! (Please read the instructions. They clearly tell you NOT to do that. That's exactly why they didn't work for those people. Take a minute and read how to use them ---- it's EASY!) You DO NOT NEED LOTS OF THESE. That actually defeats the purpose. These are called Pesticator 2000 because ONE treats 2000 sq ft. And that's all you need for the average house. ONE. The point of these is that they emit a sound/vibration through the electrical circuitry in intervals, not consistently, sporadically. That is REALLY IMPORTANT. These are intended to not allow the mice or rats to become desensitized to the sound. If they become desensitized they stop noticing it and become accustomed to it. You need it to stay a dramatic irritation to their nervous systems so they will leave. If you place them too close together it just becomes a constant vibration/sound and they will get used to it and stay. Example: In our 1700 sq ft house we ONLY NEED 1. Plugged into an outlet near the center of the house. Within two days the mice were gone!!!! Example: In our 8400 sq ft apartment building we ONLY NEED 4. Yep, ONLY 4. And we were rodent free in 3 days!!!! So don't spend more than you need to spend. ONLY BUY THE NUMBER YOU NEED to appropriately cover your sq. footage. If you buy more than you need, it's overkill. You will waste your money unnecessarily and YOU will be the cause of rendering them ineffective. This is a GREAT PRODUCT. They work...... but c'mon people...... you might want to read the directions before you trash a very effective and inexpensive product. We buy them for every property we purchase.

So far, so good
I ordered this product here, but I didn't receive it due to it being damaged in transit and returned. Because of this, I got it elsewhere. I plugged it in and the 1st day and night or two, while I no longer heard chewing in the walls, I heard LOTS of scampering - especially at night. Needless to say, I was completely freaked out by it. However, remembering that the instructions advised that the first week or so there would be MORE activity than I had previously noticed as the rodents flee, I endured. It's now day 6 and I hear NOTHING. No scampering, no chewing. Complete silence at night with everything including AC off. And this is AFTER trying every natural repellant and humane catch method I could find with no improvement and being woken up repeatedly every night by the gnawing in the walls. I have had electromagnetic plug ins in the past and had great results. So, I decided to try this as one last ditch method, before switching to lethal traps. So far, I'm impressed. I will amend my review if anything changes but so far, so good.
