Dog Man: The Supa Epic Collection: From the Creator of Captain Underpants (Dog Man #1-6 Box Set)

I got this Dog Man Supa Epic Collection for my son for Christmas, and it was an instant hit. He was hooked from the moment he opened the box and has been reading nonstop ever since. The comic-style pages make it fun and easy to follow, and the humor had him laughing out loud — which I honestly love because it makes reading feel exciting, not like a chore. What I really appreciate as a parent is that while the books are silly and fun, they also sneak in great messages about kindness, friendship, and doing the right thing. It’s one of those rare series that kids genuinely enjoy and parents feel good about buying. If you have a child who’s a reluctant reader or just loves funny books, this collection is 100% worth it. It’s been one of our favorite Christmas gifts this year, and I’d absolutely recommend it to other parents.

From a parent standpoint, this set is pure gold. The kid wants to read. No reminders. No negotiations. No “just one more page”—because they’re already five chapters ahead and ignoring me. My son enjoys these books. They are definitely boy humor and he soaks them up. It helped to encourage him to read regularly and he would hesitate to even put the books down!

My child started bringing Dog Man books home from the school library, and it was clear that she was really excited about them and eager to read. They were in such high demand at school that she was having trouble getting them - so of course I did what any parent who delights in seeing their child's eyes light up would do, I ordered her the set. It was wonderful to see her so excited to read, rather than feeling like it's a chore. Once we started getting into the series, I realized that one of the characters was named 80-HD, and the author himself has ADHD. It just so happens that my child had recently been diagnosed with ADHD, but I hadn't introduced the label yet. I was considering the most constructive way to go about it. Enter Dog Man. The timing could not have been better; it's like this beautiful and positive opportunity dropped right into my lap. So....the next time we read a passage that included 80-HD, I said, "oh! I see Dav named his robot after ADHD, the challenge with focusing sometimes that Dav also has - AND, you share that with him! It's so cool that he named his robot 80-HD!" She absolutely beamed and said, "you mean I have the same thing that the Dog Man writer has??" Yassss...Thank you, Dav Pilkey, from the bottom of my heart:). Definitely recommend.
