Inexpensive, lightweight, compact. Enough light for emergencies and close work at the campsite.
Nice inexpensive, compact, lightweight lantern. I would recommend getting the propane adapter to allow using it with 1 lb. propane canisters. Kbrotech Camping Stove Convert 1LB Propane Small Tank Input and a Lindal Valve EN417 Output Outdoor Cylinder LPG Canister Adapter (Gray) I would estimate that the light output is approximately a 40 - 60 watt incandescent bulb equivalent. The fuel you use makes a significant difference. I also got an adapter that allows me to use this with the tall butane cartridges that are used for cookstoves. While these canisters are less expensive than butane / propane mix or propane canisters, they don't put out nearly as much light, which ends up being a trade off. I like that there's no glass globe to be broken, but I think the perforated metal "globe" reduces the light output slightly. It's inexpensive enough that you could get a couple of them for emergency purposes and camping. While it's not gonna light up an entire campsite like a double mantle lantern would, it puts out enough light that you could easily play cards, or prep a meal, or provide emergency lighting if the power goes out. I also like that it has a piezoelectric ignitor. As with any gas appliance, you'll want to use it in a well ventilated area, and like any gas lantern, it gets hot, so keep it away from flammable materials.

Great lantern
This lantern is better than those at twice the price. It came in a little red case and is pretty small..the metal globe protects the mantle and is safe to pack with NO worry’s of breaking the globe...it also heats up and you can use it as a hand warmer as well.....it has piezo start which is a plus..

Great lamp at a excellent value.
Great little backpack lantern. No glass to break. I took the advice of others and removed the chain hanger. Works well and gives plenty of light on a table or ground. Don’t turn it up to max as it will turn into a cook stove with a flame coming out of the top.

Works great after some adjustments
Right out of the box, this item seemed to be of good quality. As many other reviewers noted, don't bother with the mantle that is provided with the lantern, it's just a pain to try to install properly. Use Coleman or equivalent mantles and save yourself the trouble. The second thing to note is that the retaining clips for the metal wind-break piece require adjustments to make sure they do their job properly. I am not entirely convinced that could trust them for a lot of movement (i.e. taking this on a walk to a restroom), but for stationary use I think they would work okay. I have not used this other than setting it up for testing, so I can't say how well it works in the real world. Included are photos of it in action at night - you can see it throws off a lot of light, more than I expected. More to follow after real-world use.

It works and it generates light.
Overall it feels well built. I do get concerned that the mesh cage may not last overtime. Since it is folded, I worry the heat might rupture the seam. The plastic container it comes in is very cheap. It is functional. I would have to test a Coleman mantle, the one included was a pain to put on. It did catch though so it’s there. At some point I will get replacements to store just in case I need them again. The piezoelectric starter saves on having to keep matches. I am running this off of a small propane tank with adapter. With the propane adapter, I might get another one to use at the top of my propane tree.
