OtterBox Defender Case for BlackBerry Classic - Retail Packaging - Black (Black/Black)

After putting on this case for my phone, I knew I never had to worry about dropping it again. It offers full protection by having many layers, covers all the buttons and holes so that no dirt can seep in, and the volume buttons are super easy to use just by sense of touch. There is a slight rise in the surrounding protection of the screen, although not on the keyboard, it protects both. (if you place the phone face down, the surrounding protection doesn't let the keyboard touch the table, which is pretty cool) The logo on the back is protected with a transparent plastic layer, but it is visible when placed on the holster! The holster does the job just as well as the case. I love the clicking sound when I put the phone in the holster. To sum it all up, this is a great, durable, great textured rubber case that does the job better than any other case in the market. The typing experience is wonderful with the case on as it makes the phone feel like a mini computer. I would definitely encourage you to get this. P.S.. it is a bit bulky to fit in your pocket, but it comes with a holster so it shouldn't be a worry! And if you ever need a weapon, this is perfect :D

Great case! My phone has dropped in this case many times (not because of the case but just of my clumsiness) and I was SO GLAD I had otter box when it did. It does make your phone quite chunky but it makes it more substantial to hold in your hand as well. It comes with a plastic case that the phone sits inside of and then an outer layer of protection around that. Very durable. I drop my phone fairly often and this case relieves my worry.

I bought this for my wife as she is hard on her phones and I have an OtterBox Defender for my S4 which has survived falls and even a 4 day canoe trip. Easy to put together and durable, the Defender is perfect. The only difference is that since the BB Classic has both touch and physical keys, you don't get the solid piece of plastic for the screen protection. Instead, it is a 'peel and stick' which if you are not careful and have a clean surface, it will leave bubbles. But it went on smoothly and no issues. Sure, you can buy a $10 or $20 case but in the case of OtterBox, you get what you pay for. It is worth the extra money after the first time you drop it and it saves your $600 phone.

I already trust otterbox brand and the case did not disappoint. it fits my new phone perfectly and protects the screen without being so big and bulky that is becomes hard to store.

As my original Otterbox began gradually to disintegrate in its 4th year, I set out on what initially was a fruitless search for a replacement —until the item appeared for sale via Amazon. Though the price was a bit higher than for the original —doubtless because the item was seemingly out of stock from all the usual sources and perhaps no longer manufactured— I went for it. I almost feel as if I have a new phone.

Good protection, without transforming my BB Classic in a bric. 5th star missing because the closing rubber parts over the usb port (bottom) and the headphones entrance (top) are not closing perfectly and tightly (as shown in the pictures), so allowing the entrance of some dust and, in case, some liquid (it shouldn't, being a rugged case). Good also the holster.

This thing is just about bomb-proof, but unless you take your Berry on safari or into a combat zone, it probably is overkill. It adds a lot of weight and has a couple of other problems. It clips onto your belt, but it has come off in the car twice. It would be better if you could thread the belt through it. Also, I miss calls because it is not all that easy to get out of the holster. I kept it for times when I need the armour-plating, but am switching to a lighter protector.

The belt holster isn't very secure. The BB Classic often pops out of the three plastic clips when I exit my car because the seat bolsters push on the phone just right to release it. The belt clip also is not very secure. It often loses its grip on my belt because the J hook isn't wide enough to engage my belt. The hook is bent very sharply and the opening will fit only thin, wimpy dress belts, not belts with any substantial thickness (my belt is ~ 3/16" to 1/4" double-thick horsehide). The case itself offers very good protection for the phone. It's protected my phone several times now when the J hook detached from my belt and the phone fell the the pavement. The tradeoff is that the rubber case is too thick at the charging port end to insert the phone into the charging port of my IDAPT I4 Charging Station. I have to use a USB charging cable plugged into the USB port of the IDAPT. Update: I've decided to downgrade this to 2 stars instead of my initial 4 stars. It gets 5 stars for protection , but 0 stars for security. The belt holster has lost its grip to my belt much too often. At least the case has protected my Blackberry from damage. But if you wear a belt of substantial thickness, this holster is terrible. The J-hook opening simply is too narrow to hook over the belt. Eventually, the clip will get pushed upwards and the whole ensemble will clatter to the ground. The position of the clip also needs improvement. Due to the size of the phone, the holster essentially is a "high ride" and grinds into my ribs when I'm sitting down. At least for my body dimensions, the clip would be better positioned if it were offset from the center of the rectangle, toward a corner. That would allow the phone to ride lower on the beltline, whether you carry the phone vertically or horizontally. Second update: I've now downgraded this product to 1 star. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I nearly lost my BB Classic this afternoon when the phone fell out of the holster. Apparently, while walking across a grass field, I stumbled on some uneven ground. My arm must've bumped the phone and popped it out of the holster. I later realized my phone was missing and I found it laying in the grass when I retraced my steps. This holster is completely unreliable in terms of securing the phone. I don't recommend it. I am ditching it and looking for a pouch-style scabbard with a flap, like with my old BB Bold.
