Fun, educational, good quality
These toys are a huge hit in our house - with both my 2.5 year old son (Christmas present) and my husband :) It comes with 3 shapes - a small(ish) triangle, a medium-sized square, and a larger pentagon. The sides of the triangle, square and pentagon are approximately the same. Each side has an embedded, free-spinning magnet in the center. When two magformer pieces are brought in close proximity, the magnets spin so they become locked together. Now, if you say, stack two pentagons on top of each other, and then a different pair of pentagons on top of each other, and the magnets end up locking in different directions, you will not be able stack those two stacks, if that makes sense. What you would need to do is break one stack apart and put the pieces one by one on top of the other stack, allowing the magnets to realign. This is a great educational toy about construction, creativity, and shapes. Surprisingly, 62 pieces didn't seem big enough for everything we wanted to build. Perhaps next Christmas there will be another set...

Versatile and Safe
I’ve wanted magnet toys for my kids for awhile, but never wanted to pay this much for them. After searching and comparing several different brands and talking to people who have them, I decided it’s worth the extra money for something that is safe and will last forever. Many other brands have the magnet exposed which makes me nervous with them breaking off and kids swallowing them (also just the fact that the toy wouldn’t be usable). Other brands also don’t have the magnet strength of these and don’t stay together as well. So, I made the plunge and got these for my kids for Christmas and they all love them (ages 7, 5, and 2.5). They can be so creative with what to build at their different skill levels. I’m happy with them and don’t regret the extra $$ spent for high quality.

Everyone loves these!
These Magformers sets are an incredible toy for the whole family. I purchased a set for my four-year old's birthday and we had a blast playing with these together. It comes with an instruction manual for various designs (balls, motor boat, windmill, etc.) Some of the models it gives you to make you aren't able to because you'd have to buy another set for the specific shape; but that didn't stop us from using what we had to make it work (I was a little annoyed with this but more than anything I was a sucker for this trick and just want to buy another set to complete the challenges). My other children, ages ten and twelve, enjoy playing with these as well. After playing with these I purchased and sent a box (through Amazon) to my sister for her children to share. She has reported it has kept them busy for hours. This is a great toy for those without children to keep in their homes for when the occasional child comes over. ...though I think they'll be played with whether or not children are present! Reasons to purchase this toy over others: 1. These are quick to pick up...because they're magnetic. 2. This helps teach basic shapes. 3. It's cool to be able to build something from shapes and see how sequential steps can create something spectacular. 4. Once a child learns basic steps for various 3D shapes they can go on to build creations of their own. 5. These can be stored in a much smaller box than they come in. 6. Fun for all ages.

Favorite toy- but not great on the light table
I’ll start by saying that these are one of our favorite toys. The magnets are nice and strong so creations hold together really well, the colors are bright, and there are enough pieces to build some cool things. My babies love them because they’re easy to hold on to- I do watch them carefully but I’m not really worried about pieces coming apart, they seem really sturdy and well made. The only thing that was really disappointing is that I bought this set for use on our light table, but they look really blah. The pieces are transparent, but for some unfathomable reason the designers made each piece different colors on the front and back. Some are light blue and dark blue- those look okay, but the purple/green and yellow/pink pieces just end up looking muddy. I really wish they were solid colors. For this purpose, I wish I’d spent my money on Picasso tiles. Still, even though they’re not as pretty as I was hoping, they’ve still been a big hit! (The first picture is of a little play hack I discovered- I taped a cookie sheet to a tray table so they can build on a magnetic surface. It works really well!)

WoW, oh WoW, oh WOW!
WoW, oh WoW, oh WOW. I bought this as a birthday giftie for my grand niece. Of course, she IMMEDIATELY jumped right in, and had a ball. Did I mention that she is only 2 years old? Of course, she cannot make the items listed in the inclosed books, but she just likes putting them together, and then smashing them. OR, having anyone in the room make something, present it to her, and then smashing it to the ground. This provides hours of play for her. An added bonus is the both of her parents, and her grand parents like playing with them too, and we quickly discovered that 62 pieces is not enough. I gotta get more. Awful expen$ive however. BONUS...because these are magnetic, cleanup is a snap...much easier than Legos. When you start picking them up, they start to stick to the others , and the next thing you know, they are all in the toy box. That alone makes this worth their expen$e!

Makes a great gift on its own but enables lots of expansion to other Magformers sets.
