German fingering
The book is okay. It is written for a recorder with german fingering. It gradually teaches notes/ how to read music but it is not grab and go. If you are using it to teach a child, it is important to already know how to read music yourself (if you cannot , I would look elsewhere for a different book.)As I will be teaching on a recorder with baroque fingering several of the fingering charts will have to be changed.I wish the description of the product included that it is for german recorders not baroque- I would have passed if I had known.

Money well spent!
This book is perfect for my five-year-old daughter. She wanted to start playing an instrument like her big brother and this was the perfect fit because it was simple, it shows all of the notes and letters, and keeps the songs relatively simple. The illustrations in it are all very entertaining for a five-year-old and she was very excited to see songs that she knew like jingle bells inside.

Perfect for learning to read music
I bought this book as a supplement to the first book I bought from the same company. I highly recommend both of the books. This book starts out with the letter of each note written in each song and as you progress the book slowly introduces notes without the letters. So it really helps in learning to read music.* Record Fun Book* Big Song BookI will buy the rest of the books he wrote for the recorder soon.My grandkids & I are using the books to learn together.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!
No need to be a kid to use this book! It's great fun for us adults, too.Starts off with one, then two, then three etc notes..teaches you to read notes as you go as well as learning the recorder. It shows the fingering when teaching notes and there is a full page fingering chart in the back of the book.In the beginning it shows the name of the notes in the music to make it easy to learn. Later on just the notes. One can always refer back if they haven't memorized the notes yet.A couple of the songs have chords above for a friend to okay guitar or uke or piano chords with you. No chord diagrams tho. There are some duets as well. This is a great book to learn to okay the soprano (baroque fingering with).I will use the songs for other instruments as well for the melodies.See 5 pictures I uploaded as samples Enjoy!!

Definitely recommend.
I'm using this to teach my kindergartner in our homeschool. He loves this book and advances quickly and picked up how to read the music right away. Definitely recommend.

Not fun / low class
This book is terrible. The paper is the worst possible quality. The way to play each note is not properly explained, nor is the chart of the fingers. Also, for such a beginner's book I expected a chart note -> fingers on each page, so I can play a song without having to write down the finger configuration for each note.It does not have a table of contents. It has "information" on the inside of the first and last page, definitely a low class choice.

Required for Class
This book was required for my 8-year-old's Beginner Recorder class. It worked well during class and practice and she can play a couple of the songs now. It isn't something she would use without being guided though.
