Worst OBD device ever
I have been using OBD devices, primarily from ScanTool, for years. I bought the Kiwi4 because I liked some of its features. Which are useless since the device has only worked twice since I bought it in March 2019. The last time it ran for 30 minutes and locked up. It connects with bluetooth but the software just keeps flashing "connecting" and it never does. I have the latest software version but the device is useless, it's even too light to use as a paper weight.UPDATEI have been testing this with other phones/tablets with various versions of Android OS and it is always the same problem. Initially the device works but once it disconnects it will never connect to the software again. Bluetooth connection is fine, but when connecting to the app one of two things happen. It hangs on connecting, or it says it is connected and when I go to dashboard nothing works, going back to the main page it no longer shows as connected. It did this on 7 different phones and 3 tablets using Android 6, 7, 8, and 9.Two major problems when using this device1. It plugs in upside down so the lights are not viewable. I have half a dozen different devices and this one is the only one that is upside down.2. It is short, so even if the device was right side up it doesn't protrude enough to see the lights. It is about half the size of the others I have.

Extremely handy device. Works great paired with Samsung GS5 and GS7. I use it with Torque (lite).

Works great once you figure it out (iOS takes some tinkering)
I almost returned the KIWI 4 after initially having difficulties with it. On my "One last try" I noted that when I click on the DIAGNOSTICS button after being connected on the MAIN screen (iOS app version 2.1.3) the KIWI4 dropped the Bluetooth connection to the phone. Once I noticed this, I decided to wait on pressing the scan button after going into the DIAG mode, unseated the scanner from the car and reinserted it (3 seconds later), effectively restarting the KIWI, and then I could click scan, then review the diagnotics and clear codes without issues. I feel that this may be an iOS vs their software issue...probably fixable, but probably very frustrating to people who buy it and don't figure this out.The device works with all of the other settings currently available. Performance mode, whatever that is, is currently in dev, Data Logging, and Video Display features are locked behind a paywall. Please be aware that KIWI is supposed to do an update, so don't buy the other features until they finally release the full software capabilities. I will buy their full feature license when the software is all done, but not in its current state). I have not tried to use other software with it yet, and feel that PLX needs to get their software done before the review can be higher than a 3-star rating.

Connects most of the time
The only complaint I have so far is that it can require a few attempts to get it fully connected. Still getting used to all that I can do with it and which of the gauges give valid data for my vehicles. It is nice having a tool that you can connect and leave it connected during a trip either for general data (i.e. fuel usage) or for troubleshooting intermittent issues.

Defective out of the box, no Kiwi 4 specific documentation, and slow tech support
I was interested in the self run mode in order to track business miles driven on my truck. This mode never worked and took over three days going back and forth with PLX Tech Support to determine the unit was defective. From what I could tell this device never wrote anything to the SD card. PLX Tech Support is only through web form and email, so any troubleshooting takes days. There is no specific documentation on the Kiwi 4. PLX refers you to the Kiwi 3 user manual, but this manual does not cover the self run mode and the micro SD card slot. So any information like maximum SD card capacity and support file system format are no given and you have to contact Tech Support for this information.Based on my experience so far with the Kiwi 4 and PLX, I recommend staying away from both.

Torque very cool little device worth every dollar in my opinion
It works just as listed shows fuel economy, Horsepower, Torque very cool little device worth every dollar in my opinion. Only complaint i have is some apps dont work with it. I'm using dash command its free and cool but doesnt give you all the features unless you pay the 10 dollars extra.

No Response Customer Service
I just purchased this more expensive item after returning a less expensive one that didn’t work well this one seems to work fairly well unfortunately it has so many options of what you can preset and I’ve attempted to reach out to the company four times now for assistance with this and no one has responded also on your iPad the page only opens up in one direction which on my unit that sits inside of a cradle holder is upside down and they also have an answered how to get that straightened out so I’m not too keen on recommending this companys product

Made to work with smartphones
I installed a android head unit in my 2007 Lincoln MKz. Unfortunately, this product is not designed to connect to android head units because the custom OS in head units limits the type of devices that can connect
