XL Handle
Love this Mt. Pie maker! I use this over fire and coals. Since this is aluminum, there's a small learning curve compared to the cast iron makers. I find it cooks and cools much faster, which yielded better results for me once I learned the nuances. My preferred Mt. Pie maker when camping!

So much better than a panini press, makes Delicious pocket type treats
Makes the most amazing sandwiches, different than a panini press, this seals the sides so that you end up with a pocket type item. Perfect for both sweet and savory. This is just like the one I had when I was a kid growing up, really well made and easy to clean. Choose short handled for everyday use on a cooktop, Long handled if you want to use for camping

ok, but, not as solidly made as was original one of 1990's production.
I had one of these years ago from the same company, and it was much more solid than this one.

Great Memory Maker When Camping, Kids love it...
We love this item for out gas stove in our RV. We have an electric stove at home, so I keep this for our RV. We can use it over the campfire or the gas range. We love putting bread and scrambled eggs in this. Also bananas, chocolate as well. There is no end to it. If you go to the website for the product you can see lots of recipe ideas. And if you have kids, my teen daughter loves these, and looks forward to it every time we camp. Get the long size if you want to use in the campfire. On the gas stove inside the rv the shorter ones are better. I got the long one and use it inside too, but it's a little tougher because it is pretty long. Cooking spray helps with clean up afterwards.

Toas-tite XL
I bought 2 of the XL Toas-tites a little less than 10 years ago on Amazon. I have only used them on a campfire. We made "pizza" pies, breakfast sandwiches (bread with scrambled eggs, cheese, and whatever else filling), and cinnamon rolls. For the cinnamon rolls, we used 1 roll from a pre-packaged refrigerated tube. I don't remember how long on each side was cooked, but they turned out great ( flip often to prevent burning). Spread with icing after cooking. I don't know why so many reviews are negative. One review has pictures with a pie iron broken into pieces. I wonder if the reviewer received a knock-off brand.

It's kinda fun. Is it useful? No
It's fun. It makes little sandwich pockets. But it's kind of a pain to use. You gotta grease the inside of it very well or your sandwiches will stick and fall apart. You gotta make sure it seals the bread super well or stuff will leak out, stick to it and your sandwich will fall apart. It's neat that it makes little pockets and all but I'd honestly buy one of the bigger ones that you can just fit an entire sandwich in

Easy to use on the stove
We used this on a glass stove top and in a campfire and both methods work just fine. Not sure what other reviewers were referring to when they said it couldn't be used on a glass stove top; it worked just fine and I even had to lower the heat to medium because it was heating up too fast. Would definitely recommend guava con queso disco sandwiches :)

Makes great sandwiches like i remember as a kid
Growing up many many years ago my mom had one of these. Used to make sandwiches all the time. This one works just like I remember and am stuffed as have been making sandwiches non stop. Read the reviews on aluminum vs the old cast iron ones. This one is heavy aluminum, feels solid and is well made. The only problem is that they don't make bread as big as they used to. Had to rollout some bread to make it big enough to overlap the edges. Used some sandwich raps too but those did not get as crispy as bread. Glad i made the purchase....

Handles are short as others have noted; we bought the longer ones and they are still shorter than other sandwich grills we have had in the past. We have used them six times already and love them.

These are just like the ones I remember as a kid. They are the best pie irons out there.
