OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Base Pad

Great item, opens everything I need opened that I had difficulty with as a senior. Slightly confusing to learn how to use but no problem. Also needs some caution because if I slip the teeth could cut me, but no cuts yet. Some may want to use a glove. Especially helpful with those Talenti jars. Seems durable.

Does the job but still require some strength. I do struggle a bit with a glossy enameled lid. The opener slipped a bit when trying to grip it. This still requires some strength behind it to open a lid. Might not be the best for a senior citizen. I am over 60 and it has worked okay. I highly recommend using the rubber coaster to set your jar on.

I almost didn’t buy this jar opener because of the negative reviews, saying it would not open a jar and it tore up the lid. However, I saw an elderly lady demonstrate this who does product review videos and it opened jars for her perfectly so I decided to go with her review. I really needed a jar opener because my arms are getting weak. I am very glad that I bought the Oxo one because it works just like it’s supposed to. It’s very easy to use as long as you keep it flat on the lid and slide it until it stops. Then you give it one easy turn in the direction of the arrow on the opener, and it opens the lid very easily. It has metal teeth on one side that may dig into a metal lid on one part, making a small jagged place, but I found it only did that on one lid. It did not tear up plastic lids. So that is the only negative thing I found and it’s something I will just watch out for. Also, I wish it was a little bit cheaper than $15 however, I am very happy with my Oxo jar opener.

I was a bit skeptical buying this online without handling it, but this is great! I exert much less effort than using two grippies (one on the lid and one on the jar) to open stubborn lids! It can handle almost any size lid. Although it has some scary looking “teeth” I don’t notice any damage to the lids. It stores easily in my utensil drawer. The silicone disc is to set the bottle/jar on while you twist. I’ve only had to use it once. It stays securely in the device so it’s handy if needed. I thought that was a very nice accessory to this opener. Skip the hot water and banging the jar on the counter… It’s just enough extra leverage to open tough lids easily, and won’t take up valuable real estate on your counter like those electric gizmos.

I don't know if it's me or the product, but I haven't been able to open anything with it yet. Maybe I need to get used to it, so I'm not going to give up yet, but it doesn't look promising. It doesn't actually grip the lids. It just slides around the lid without moving it.

Will save a lot of wasted time trying to get tight jars open. Worked so great I bought one for my elderly mother in law. Works very well, thanks again OXO

Now I don't have to wait for my husband to come home to open that jar of olives! If you have arthritis like I do, opening most jars is really a struggle. But Oxo to the rescue! This little gadget is a lifesaver.

Easy to use

Produit acheté il y a quelques années. Pas très pratique à utiliser. Il faut vraiment trouver le couvercle adapté sinon quand vous tournez l'ustensile dérape.
