Simpson Strong-Tie WBSK WBSK Workbench and Shelving Hardware Kit

I used a set of these before to build a 3' x 6' heavy duty rolling workbench with 4 x 4 legs. It made designing and assembling that project a breeze. I was delighted to see that they also made this set designed for 2 x 4 legs. I plan on using these to build an outdoor garden utility storage shed and expect to be able to frame it up in no time just like the workbench before. These are exceptionally strong and make aligning the frame very quick and easy, essentially foolproof. The price on Amazon was a fraction of the cost for the exact same product at the big box home remodeling stores. I was more than happy to wait two days to get these than to pay easily four times as much at those other places. This product is awesome, highly versatile, and you can make almost anything rectangular with them very easily, very sturdily and very quickly.

I used these to build a 4x8 train table with a plywood top. The brackets made it very easy to put together and it's very sturdy!

This is a great and inexpensive kit to create a very sturdy workbench or storage shelves with little carpentry experience. Can you cut level and straight 2x4's ? Can you use a screw gun to drive screws? Then you can use this kit to easily design your own workbench or storage shelves that are sturdy, square, and strong. The brackets are very well made and provide an easy way to create square and strong joinery between 2x4's The kit also comes with quality self-drilling screws that drive easily with no need to pre-drill, and your wood will not split or crack while driving the screw. Anytime I am in need to build something quick and sturdy, I will be picking up another kit to make the job easy and quick. I could recommend this kit to anyone from an experienced woodworker or even a beginner. The results you get from using this kit will surprise and please you.

Quick assembly with e handy cut list for your lumber. I made a 6ft bench and used 2X6 lumber for the top rails. Very sturdy. Screws provided aren't best quality, stripped a couple of heads off driving screws in. Also make sure to have some sturdy clamps to keep brackets and lumber square during building. Other than that simple to use, quick and happy with end result. Great value!!

Simpson has a stellar reputation in the building industry — this product only strengthens that standing. This product is expertly engineered, manufactured to exacting standards and delivers well beyond intended application. I have a M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering and can certify this product will exceed expectations in every measure. If using casters, the twisting and flexing that’s standard will not impact these brackets. Screw heads my break under stress but these brackets will withstand the test. Loading of members can cause failures but the brackets themselves will remain as solid. I simply cannot say enough about this product; perfection speaks for itself. I have now purchased and used eighteen sets; each is performing beyond expectations. Unlike the wannabes trafficking polymer units, this product is made of SOLID sheet metal that withstands weathering, accepts pressure treated lumber (2”x 4” ONLY) and adds less than 0.100” to side and bottom profile. The skill of excellent structural engineering is channeling loads correctly. This product provides a solid structural assembly. Seven of my units are exposed to weather (pressure treated members) and freeze/thaw cycles; season after season these gems have handled the expansion/contraction cycles perfectly. Polymer systems crack and break — these STEEL brackets will NEVER crack, break or fail when used within intended application envelope. My only regret … I failed to design and patent this product first! Unlike sellers trading in the cheap polymer 2”x4” shelving braces, Simpson’s engineers sleep well and celebrate generous bonuses. I am not affiliated with Simpson or this product in any way. I happen to be a strong believer that innovation and excellence deserves to be respected. I do not believe this product could ever receive a rating below maximum — it is simply designed and made to exceed expectations when used within intended envelope. And, exceed it does!

You get eight of the fasteners. (When you open box make sure you have eight!) Also get plenty of screws but I needed man extra drywall screws of various lengths. Have plenty of extra screws on hand. I used a jig-saw and drill. Home depot cut all of the lumber to the exact lengths for $0.25 per cut. I had them mark each piece with the length. It did take about 2 hours to assemble working alone. It is easy to customize this bench. Use your imagination. I made the top 72 inch wide and the rest of the bench 48 inch wide. This 1 foot hangover allowed me to mount a vise on left side and a small bench grinder on right. This gave 48 inch of open counter space. I used two 3/4 inch thick plywood pieces glued and screwed together for the bench top. But you can use anything for the top including 2x4's or a kitchen countertop. Also added a 72 inch 1x4 with 1 inch side attach vertically to the top 48 inch 2x4. (The one on top that the pegboard attaches to.) This allows easy positioning of clamp on lights. Added a 72 inch 2x4 crosspiece under bench top for added rigidity although you do not need it. I attached bench top with a 4 inch overhang in front. If you have limited carpentry experience (like me) I recommend you carefully read instructions, lay out all the lumber and tools, and maybe sketch out your custom project on a legal pad. I built the bench for under $80.
