Does not fit all Fire 7 models
I really loved this right out of the box. Included everything I needed. It's a sturdy black leather that really looks sharp. Only problem is that it doesn't work for my simple Fire 7. Much too big so I had to send it back. Make sure, as I thought I had, that you have the HD or newest model. Mine is 9th generation which it said it fit. But oh, well. I would really like one like this that fits my device. Had to settle for buying a plain cover from another company.

Sounds good on paper.
The main problem I have with it is that when it was turned on the internet wouldn't work. So I could type all day without internet, but that;s no fun. I called the kindle support line and they said they were going to release an update in a few weeks that should solve the problem (today is 6-25-14).Even if that does get solved, I still wouldn't give it more than 3 stars because it makes it difficult to actually use and hold your tablet like a tablet. It seems like it was designed solely to exist in landscape format. I guess the keyboard can fold back but it's not a comfortable position to hold it in. If you're looking to replace your laptop with your kindle, then this might not be a bad thing, but my kindle is mainly for play not work.On the bright side, the keys aren't as difficult as some make it out to be. I like to think my fingers are good sized and I didn't have too much difficulty. You will have to relearn where certain keys are, and that can get annoying. Secondly the screen folds on top of the keyboard but the design prevents the two from touching, so that's a relief.I'm leaning towards returning this product and buying a simpler case without a keyboard, and hopefully that will protect a little better from drops. I don't see myself keeping this case and constantly switching between the two when I want to write on someone's wall on facebook.

so all in all I think this was worth the money just to satisfy my curiosity on using a type pad
I bought this used for around $13, so all in all I think this was worth the money just to satisfy my curiosity on using a type pad. However, I don't really like this gadget and am seriously considering sending it back.PROS- It works with a HD7 which is already a few years old and about to be obsolete.CONS-the case does not work as a kick stand for portrait mode, only for landscape mode which I only like to use when I am watching movies. 90% of the time, I use this device to read and prefer portrait mode. With this type pad case, I have to hold my device up which gets heavy-it is difficult to figure out the keyboard strokes to get certain special characters like question mark and forward slash-this thing is heavy- you lose out on auto correct and auto complete for words when using the keyboard.

it works...
Honestly, all I saw was "Kindle Fire HD" and "buetooth"--it's silly to have a product that needs to differentiate between "new" and "old" versions (looking at you, Amazon). So, not knowing there's an apparent height differential between an "old" Fire HD and the "new" one, I ordered this. It doesn't fit my 2012 HD to use as a case, but it does connect and do what I need for it to do. The bluetooth setup was easy, and it just takes some balancing to set my kindle up in position, but honestly, if you have a good case that balances well in landscape mode, it will still work by setting the case on the flat part of the keyboard case.As far as the keyboard itself--takes some getting used to, as far as using the function/alt/shift keys, and it randomly gets stuck in CAPSLOCK mode when that button was not hit at all (and simply hitting that key does not fix it). The keyboard turned off while I was typing this, and it was on the charger--I just had to move the power key on and off a few times til the blue light started to blink and it was fine.I considered ordering one of the $30 cases from a generic brand because this one costs too much for me to need to adjust so many things, but I'll give it through the weekend to see how it performs.

EXCELLENT -- but could be even better.
This little keyboard works perfectly; it appears to be rugged; the whole assembly (Kindle HDX and keyboard) in the roomy jacket I wear, or about any place I want to stow it. I have no problems whatever ... ALMOST ... my old reliable Palm Pilot was accessorized with a keyboard that folded lengthwise that was clumsy, but it wasn't too small to double as a pocket typewriter (Yeah, I'm an old guy) and I want a keyboard that folds to the same dimensions as the Kindle ... just a thought. But this little keyboard is also a carrying case for the KIndle, giving a small package that sure beats having the big beautiful screen half blocked by a virtual keyboard, and the price is not a whole lot more than some of the covers that are offered, and the whole package than a laptop computer. It deserves five stars ... but it just misses by a tiny bit, and I anticipate being ready when I need it ... and it's a great value.

Case is okay, keyboard is bulky and will take time to get used to
This key board will take a little getting used to. Its okay, very bulky though. The traditional keyboard having the ' key is not where it is usually located, and to be honest (I know I will probably sound stupid for not be able to figure this out) I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to work...it seems like it is on the O or the M but hitting shift obviously doesn't work.....but I haven't played around with it to figure it out. the case it self is nice, without the keyboard, I'd give it a 4, the only other issue to prevent a 5 is my kindle has the power button on the back and the volume bottom on the other side on the back so its not easily accessible which may be a design flaw hopefully that will be fixed.

Disappointing
Just got this keyboard. case in the mail today. Unable to pair it with my Kindle, however. No user manual packaged with the case! Checked the Belkin website, and had to search for the manual. And all I got was a list of articles, no actual manual! This may be a huge mistake! Maybe if I got a manual with the device, I could use it easier. It took me a good 2 hours to get it functional, and I still have some complaints. 1) The keyboard makes the Kindle MUCH heavier. My Fire XDX is now heavier than my 1st generation Fire! 2) The lack of a user's manual resulted in mew hunting around for key combinations to use for punctuation marks, such as an apostrophe!
